Celebrity Poker Showdown - The Championship 01/13/04

No wonder its 2 hours. Recaps Recaps Recaps.

Can anyone else not tell the difference between Willie Garson and David Cross?

I can't believe the only episode that's 2 hours long is also the only one that doesn't have multiple people that I really like on it. At least there's nobody I dislike on like Creed boy or Coolio.

Spoiler:
Willie and Richard were the first two to go (respectively)

I can't believe the luck of the draw that Paul is getting.

Started off slow. Thank GOD they added to the obligatory holdem tutorial by taking two minutes to explain how to rank poker hands. Shuffle the F up and deal, indeed!!

Too many hands were folded preflop that we never saw.

But, when Nicole got runner-runner for a straight, my wife and I both just about bruised our chins on the floor . Bravo could not have asked for a better finish for a lackluster travesty of an event. I mean, as much as I’ve ragged on the show, I’m glad I stuck with it.

Bravo, please don't do it again. K?

Nicole owned that table. She was reading everyone left and right. David Cross was funny and still stayed in till the end.

Out of curiosity, who don't you want Bravo to do this again?

Think Celebrity Football with the cast from Queer Eye. Don’t forget to have a 5-minute tutorial on the rules of football every episode.

Celebrity Poker was a combination of entertainment and poker that was neither. IMO, of course.

Nicole did not read Paul correctly when she got lucky and busted him by drawing a straight on the turn and the river. She just had a lot of chips to play with at the time, and her stupid move paid off in this one instance. Even Phil was flabberghasted by the suck-out on the hand (then again, I've been in Paul's position, so it does happen, and it does hurt when it does).

But Nicole was reading Paul like a book for most of the game. It got so bad that once she mouthed 'He's full of sh**' to the audience during one of Pauls bluffs.

You really can't blame her for misreading him at that point. She was on top of just about everyone except for David. It looked like she didn't know what was going on in Davids head and it frustrated her.

Well, Phil was pointing out all of the obvious tells of Paul's, so Nicole did have a good read on him, but if Nicole had less chips at the time of that particular hand, I doubt she would have called, so it was a lucky draw on her part, plus the circumstances allowed her to play more loosey-goosey.

It's reported that Harrah's bought the place.

Everything about WSoP at the moment is just rumor.

Nicole also had such an obvious read on Paul that she announced he was bluffing when in fact he had trips, yes?

Yeah, she got that one wrong. But what about all of the other times. She didn't get to the end out of luck. In both of her games she was in control of the other players. Many of the times Paul was bluffing, she backed out of the hand because either her hand was weak or another player looked stronger. She played a smart game all the way through.

I don't disagree that she played well. I just think some are giving her omniscience more credit than is due.

Speaking of Nicole, I wonder if Phil got some of that "action" after the game, if you know what I mean.

I thought he was going to blow a load when Shannon Elizabeth was in the loser's lounge. He's a horny guy. As well he should be, Nicole Sullivan is hot. When she touched her nipples I was

I was thinking 1 day, maybe 2 at the most.

It looked to me like Richard Schipp was wearing the same clothes, I may be wrong. Plus a couple of the contestants mentioned being tired. Plus Affleck and Schwimer talked like they had just been gambling the whole time since their round. So my guess is they went out on the floor, gambled, and just came back to make their appearance at the end.

wholly shit. that's pretty crazy. i'll be downtown in March, so I hope it's opened back up.

Pretty good show, overall. David Cross is the man. Too bad he didn't win.

When Nicole was yelling Phil's name, and he said "I love to hear her say my name like that " or something similar, was hilarious.

Phil was awesome. I hope they do this again.

No such thing as overexposure when it comes to Nicole Sullivan's nipples.

Finally got around to watching this. I have no problem with Nicole winning although she did get really lucky hitting that straight on the turn and river vs Paul. She played well throughout. However, I can't think of a lamer charity.
