Predictable: Ryan Adams throws a fit (audio style!)
Published artist responses to bad reviews (re: Liz Phair) are laughable enough, but when you put one on an answering machine, you begin to enter a whole new world of Lame.
WARNING: There is plenty of delightful cursing for those that get a kick out of it. Virgin & easily offended ears should stay away.

If the critics have the right to trash his him or his music, why shouldn't he have a right to say or do something back to them?
I like the music. Period. That's all I care about.

I never said he didn't have the right. Artists that react so harshly and so immaturely to bad press seem to show a lack of confidence in their work; it just doesn't speak well for them. And given my unique form of bloodlust, I get a great kick out of it. Also, there is a lot of stupidity/irony in accusing the critic of being washed-up and irrelevant. Right. No one cares.

Having finally heard a bunch of his albums and reading some of his comments... I'm not really interested in Ryan anymore. He's not the genious Elton John thinks he is (which is a bizarre friendship for sure). "Gold" was downright boring. Didn't Paul Westerberg recently slam Ryan about as hard as you can?
(edit... I'm not sure I should have just posted this! He's certainly better than 90% of what makes it to the public)

Man, this guy catches a lot of flak, understandably so. Still, I find it highly entertaining. Big ****ing surprise...a rock star is a baby about their work. Difference is, Ryan Adams is making some best music out right now, so he can get away with it. After finally hearing a bunch of his albums, I can say he's one of my favorite songwriters ever.

Haha shit that was funny. I don't care how good you are, or how good you are supposed to be, everyone should be able to take criticism, especially someone in a business like this. I've only heard the rumors that this guy acts like a baby, but he pretty much reinforces that right there.
