Today's CDs (1/12/04 - 1/16/04) -- what are you listening to?
Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball
Metric - Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
Refreshments - Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy
Swag - Catch-All
R.E.M. - In Time: Best of (Ltd. Ed.)
Question of the Day: Six Degrees of Today's CDs -- can you link your CDs (artists) together?
1. Emmylou Harris sings with Neil Young on "Wrecking Ball"
2. Neil Young is Canadian, as is Emily Haines of Metric
3. R.E.M. has played with that guy from the Minus 5, Scott McCaughey, as have members of Wilco.
4. Ken Coomer was once part of Wilco.
5. Wilco played on the Gram Parsons tribute album that Emmylou Harris helped put together
6. The Refreshments, well, they're kinda the isolated ones here. But they wrote the theme song to "King of the Hill," and I'm sure I could somehow link them through guest artists on the show or, going back, artists Beavis and Butthead (Mike Judge's previous creation) made fun of.
OK, I got lazy. Anybody have a better question?

Okkervil River - Don't Fall in Love with Everyone You See
Okkervil River - Down the River of Golden Dreams
Vida Blue - The Illustrated Band
The Format - EP
The Kinks - Muswell Hillbillies
No better question here either, and I really don't think I can link many of these discs together except for...the two Okkervil River albums are by the same band.

Yume Bitsu, Auspicious Winds (K)
Moonbabies, The Orange Billboard (Hidden Agenda)

No way to answer the current one, either.
I do have to say that Dump the Body in Rikki Lake is THE album title of the year.

Burden Brothers - Buried In Your Black Heart
This is the only CD I had a chance to listen to today. So, I'll just link the Burden Brothers with the Toadies since they both have the same singer.

90 Day Men -- Panda Park
TV on the Radio -- Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes
Chromeo -- She's in Control
JC Chasez -- Schizophrenic
Aaliyah -- Aaliyah
90 Day Men are on Southern Records, which distributes Touch & Go, home of TV on the Radio who are from NYC, as are Chromeo, who sounds like Rhythm Nation-era Janet Jackson covering Devo, which is almost exactly what "A.D.I.D.A.S." and "Come to Me" from JC Chasez's solo debut sound like, which would have Ian Curtis rolling over in his grave where he nestles his decomposing head against the empty cavity of Aaliyah's chest.

Ani Difranco - Reveilling/Reckoning
Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl vol. 2
Starflyer 59 - Everybody Makes Mistakes
I'd be hard pressed to find a connection between all three of these.

4. Death Cab For Cutie - "Transatlanticism"

Can't wait to hear the new Okkervil River album.
