"The Best-Laid Plans"
Malloy hires his wife's cousin to work as a prostitute in his bordello; the team investigates the disappearance of an 8-year-old girl.
Cast: Leslie Bibb, David Paymer, Anson Mount, Jeffrey Sams, Brian Goodman, Julie Ann Emery , Michael Irby, Kristen Shaw, Leslie Hope, Jazsmin Lewis, Ever Caradine, Claire Malis Callaway, Polly Cusumano, Tim Abell, Haley King, Vincent Corazza, Lisa Renee Pitts, Matthew Sullivan, Sam Dunnavent, Jack Trimarco.
Director(s): Rod Lurie.
Producer(s): Rod Lurie, Marc Frydman, Jeff Melvoin.
Writer(s): Wendy West.
Tonight was a change of pace w/ the team not looking into Malloy's bunch the entire ep.
I can't believe Malloy hired his wife's cousin to work in his brothel. And his wife is an idiot, because she's pissed off at him and he totally changes the subject by bringing up the subject of having kids. He's an *******, but he's good.
Stubbs is psycho, stupid and ignorant as hell.
I knew once the missing girl's father was found to be alive that his "widow" was going to shoot him, particularly after she wanted to go upstairs and freshen up before the meeting.
Go figure - Special Agent in Charge Cohen has a kid that she barely talks to. Finally we are starting to get a little back story w/ her.

During the title sequence, Van Doren (Bibb) is shown doing something violent... pushing someone down or grabbing someone... in the same West Point sweatshirt that she wore most of the episode. I knew that it was just a matter of time before something bad happened.
Good to see that the actress who played the girl's mom is getting work after Lucky got cancelled.

The part where Paige yells gun and jumps at the wife was in the promos for the show before the season premiere so I knew it was coming.
It was good we got a break from Roy almost getting made as a UC.
Malloy's wife is a moron.

I completely agree on your last two remarks.

Everybody and his brother saw that "GUN!" bit coming. Nice work, ABC.
I'd have run to Canada too, if my wife was that ugly.
I swear Malloy's cousin's second john looked like Kevin Sorbo...
I liked that we got a full episode mostly dedicated to one case that cropped up. It almost reminded me of a Homicide or Law & Order episode.
It's interesting that their situation room is so big that Cohen has to go up front and rock the mic.

Heh, I hadn't seen the promos, and even I saw the gun bit coming. This show really telegraphs itself, and it's starting to annoy me. It was even obvious that Steve wasn't dead and had taken the girl because of the way they kept harping on it (I didn't think he actually survived the attack, I just figured he wasn't really there or something). They're clearly a victim of trying too hard. They're trying so hard to be an intense/gritty network show that it comes across a bit false to me, especially when they keep ending episodes with these montages.
I like all the characters (except Van Doren's kind of annoying) and what they're trying to do with the show, but it's just too forced right now. They really need to tighten the show up a bit and stop trying so hard to make us cry at the end of every episode. I really want to like this show, and they've had some good episodes, but it still needs a lot of work. Hopefully they're working out the kinks in these early episodes, because Roy's story is great, and I want to see it play out well.

Yep - same here. When you insert a line like "Excuse me, I need to freshen up...." or whatever she said, it was obvious that she was going to get her gun.
Didn't really care for this episode.

Well, I didn't see the promos and I'm willing to admit I did not see that coming. After it was revealed that her husband wasn't really dead, I was thinking that no one was making a big deal of the fact that this woman thought she was a widow for over two years and she really wasn't. Exactly why I don't watch promos at all.
Malloy was so crafty, totally turning his wife around.
Naked butt! Yay!

This show works because of Roy and Sampson - they need to stick w/ what works.

So it's allowed now? Or are there time restrictions? Like, could they insert this into an episode of The Simpsons? There must be some sort of stipulation or every show would've used it by now (remember when the ban on "bitch" was lifted?).

The networks can use F@CK now, as long as it is not referring to sex and it has to be on after 9:00cst, IIRC.

I can't stand Van Doren. You could see the gun thing coming a mile away, although I didn't see the previews either.
Do we know if the husband died or not?

One thing that bothers me logically is that Van Doren (and in this episode the mother) should have quite a bit of money, shouldn't they? The government settlements given after 9/11 should have made her pretty well off. I'm not sure if it applied to military families, though, but I suspect it did.
It isn't critical to the story, but some mention of it should probably be made. The average award was like $1.5 million.
Also, in this episode, that would thow up a fraud flag when they realized the father was still alive.
Just being picky
