Any Hidden Fee's at DDDHouse?

I'm lookin' to order some Japanese/HK/Chinese DVD's. In comparison to Poker Industries and HKFlix, DDDHouse is VERY VERY cheap. Are they safe to order from? I guess I just don't want to get ripped on some hidden shipping or handling fee -- the site isn't exactly easy to navigate or expertly designed for user efficiency.

So is it WYSIWYG?

Put a 60.00HK DVD in the basket ($7.00 US or so), 30.00HK Shipping ($3.50 US or so), so the total shipped cost would be about $10.50 (approximately)?

Thanks.

they are just cheap.. nothing wrong with the company i've ordered from them a lot of times before.

www.coolashop.com and www.hivizone.com have similar prices as they are all based in HK.

i expect HKFlix and poker industries are based in the US, so charge more.

HKF = Hawaii
Poker = NJ (I think?)

There's no hidden fees at all. I love that place and proably have purchased over 200 HK films there over the last 2 years. I only shop at other places if they don't carry it.

I just received my second order from them and am extremely happy. They have been very fast in shipping both my orders. Both were mailed out less than 3 days after I placed my order online and were received by me less than a week after that. I'm already planning my next order.

heh heh, the other hidden fee is the nagging that you'll encounter from your spouse after ordering 250 DVDs from DDDHouse (well, at least me anyway)...

I'll personally vouch for DDDHouse, Johnny the owner is a friend of mine.

I've ordered from them dozens of times before and they're very good. Although with my last order the discs were a bit scratched up because they fell out of the spindles. But that's the only time it's happened. They're cheaper than hivizone even if you use the member's 10% discount.

Yeah - I'm just holding mine for a friend. Actually, I tell her it's a business - I get the really cheap overseas (little does she know about the Korean and Japanese releases being uber expensive) and then tell her I'm going to sell them at a huge profit. She wonders when this will happen.

Customs fee?

I don't recall ever ordering anything outside of the U.S., so is my understanding correct that there is no customs fee when ordering DVDs from dddhouse.com?

Thanks in advance!

you are allowed $400US duty free. After that, the duty is 10% of the amount over $400US.

you are lucky to have such a high customs limit, and low percent there. here in the UK it is only 18, and then we get charged like 20% on the whole amount (including shipping) plus an admin fee for the pleasure of being taxed!

yeah, I think had something to do with the 'taxation without representation' complaints 250 years or so ago back when the US was England's bitch.

DDDHouse has an animation section now.

I don't really know if this was worth starting a new topic on, but DDDHouse now has an animation section. They also carry the Studio Ghibli films which I don't believe they were doing before. Any way here is everything they list.

(0760) Grandma And Her Ghosts ħ - - HK$ 40.00
(1050) Kiki's Delivery Service ħŮլ - - HK$ 146.00
(1050) Jin-Roh - - -
(1260) Lotus Lantern ɏ - - HK$ 45.00
(1350) Mulan ľm - - HK$ 135.00
(1355) My Life As Mcdull (Anime Movie) Ӱ - HK$ 52.00 HK$ 80.00
(1360) My Neighbor Totoro ؈ - - HK$ 146.00
(1650) Princess Mononoke ` - - HK$ 146.00
(1958) Space Travelers (Animation) OȿӄӮ - - HK$ 40.00
(2340) Wallace & Gromit oT - - HK$ 105.00

Lotus Lantern suffers from a cropped image and horrible subtitles. I'd reccomend against it.

Grandma and Her Ghosts is pretty funny. I didn't like McDull that much. Got too heavy and philosophical.

Do anyone know if the My Neighbor Totoro will be Region Free?

I'm going to pick up Grandma and her Ghosts then.

Princessducky,
It's very Taiwanese but I think for $40 HKD you can't go wrong.

Oh, it's on Taiwanese. Hmmm......must think about it then. It says Chinese& Mandarin though, but I'll go with you on it. Are the subtitles good???

I thought our DVD players in the US can only play Region 0 codes. So if it's REgion 3 or 2 we can't play them.

Also, anyone know if the Kiki's Delivery Service is any good?

Is there a DVD of that Monkey cartoon. I think it's Monty (Sie Mmm Hung). Where he lives with that family.

DVD players in the US are coded for Region 1 - region 0 DVDs are all codes so any DVD player in the world can play them.

Kiki's is a wonderful movie by Miyazaki. But the IVL DVD is coded for region 3 so if you don't have a modified DVD player, you won't be be able to play it.
I know when IVL originally released the DVD there were some picture issues, but I think they fixed that problem now.

DDDHouse Shipping Times?

Hey just a quick question for DDDHouse regulars. I placed an order in late October for 2 DVD's from DDDHouse. I got the email stating they were shipping on October 25th which was a Friday.

If I don't include Friday It's been 10 Business days and 15 days overall in total and still havn't received my package. Im wondering even though I only had 2 DVD's it could have gone through customs but still should it have taken this long? He stated in the email I should receive it within 7 days..Im wondering If I should email him and ask about it or just wait it out till next monday , tuesday and hope it shows up then? I know their a good company but I havn't ordered from them before so don't know what to expect in terms of shiping.

Oh I live in Canada btw.
