...thought I'd put it in it's own thread so it's more visible so people that missed out on the deal (or don't have a Gamecrazy local) and/or wanted the X-box version rather than the $10 PS2 verson (with a good deal worse graphics according to reviews.

Here's a link.

The PC version is also $19.99 and the PS2 $24.99. Don't see the GC version listed.

Best Buy (B&M... not sure about online) has this for $19.99 also. (14.99 after coupon!)

The PS2 version is 9.99 this week at Circuit City.

Yep, this is the best deal price wise. Can price match at best buy too. But as I said above, from reviews the PS2 version is supposed to be pretty inferior graphically to the X-box and GC versions.

oh what the heck. I didn't want the PS2 version (even if it was free, no use spending time on an inferior version) I wasn't going to buy it for $19.99 at EB, but for $14.99 at BB (after $5 coupon) I might as well. It's a short game and it's got great graphics & a good story, so I'll find time to fit it in somewhere. Thanks for the price update.

It sucks for people that paid $39.99 the first week it came out. I hate how videogame prices fluctuate so quickly. It's almost a crapshoot when you pay for games the first week these days. The worst part is that I haven't even gotten around to playing it yet and it's already dropped $20.

That's why I pretty much buy nothing at release anymore.

Really only Nintendo first party games which are my favorites and tend to not drop in price for at least a year anyway.

When I went to Best Buy the other day they only had it for 49.99, but of course because they probably didn't update their prices as usual. I didn't feel like waiting on the line anyway so I figured I'll pay the extra six bucks, and not deal with that place.

Does this seem like a permanent price reduction?

If not, I'd better snatch up a copy of the Xbox version.

But if so, then there's really no hurry as I still have about 8 unopened games from all the recent deals all over the place.
(My sorry ass bought 2 GameBoy games AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE A GAMEBOY.... though i'm thinking i may get the gb player for the GC)

What do you all think, will the price on this game being going back up?

I bought the Xbox version last night at BB for $15 after the gamers coupon. I don't have time to play it, but I always like to pop new games in and play it for 15 min when I get them, just to see what they're like. I have pretty high standards for graphics, and I must say that the graphics in this game really impressed me. Very very pretty!

Just buy a gamers gift card (put however much or little you want on it) at best buy. On the back of the case is a coupon for $5 off any video game or accessory $19.99 and up. The cards look like this.

http://cube.ign.com/articles/449/449164p1.html

January 05, 2004 - In recent weeks readers on the IGN message boards have raised questions about the retail status of Ubisoft's action-adventure Beyond Good & Evil. Some posters claimed to have purchased the title for Nintendo's GameCube console at a dramatically reduced price. Others alleged that managers at several videogame retailers had told them the game had been "discontinued."

IGN today contacted Ubisoft in an attempt to clear all of the rumors up.
It turns out that poor sales of BG&E have forced the publisher to reduce the price of the game on all consoles to $19.99, a fraction of its previous cost. However, the game has not been discontinued on any platform, according to the company.

"It's not discontinued. Any retailer who wants to carry it can buy it from us as usual," Ubisoft's vice president of marketing Tony Kee told IGN today. "Electronics Boutique has decided to stop buying the GameCube version of the game. If you want to know why, you would have to ask them, but as far as Ubisoft is concerned, the game is widely available on all formats. If people can't get it on EB's website, they can certainly get it on ours."
Hopefully they will learn from this and try to space out their big releases from now on. Of course casuals killed any chance of this game succeeding as well.

Thanks for the heads-up, everyone. I got in on the Best Buy Gamer's Card deal and picked up the GC version for $15. The Best Buy I went to had plenty of the Gamer's Cards and around 10 copies of the GC version of the game. I've only played it for about an hour or two so far, but it's pretty impressive, and a lot of fun.

If your Best Buy has a shortage of these cards, and you want to stock up, then you can put something on the card(s), as intended.

In reality, every Best Buy should be buried in them, and I have never come across a clerk who will make you do two transactions instead of one... just grab your game and one of these Gamers Gift Cards and say, "I just want to use the coupon. I don't want to waste our time actually putting money on this card that I would just use right now."

The employee will just open up the case and scan the coupon every time.

This is a YMMV thing. I've had problems with that. Thus I just try to always have 1 or 2 of these laying around with $5 on the card (so I can knock $10 off at time of purchase, spread out my costs as my monthly budget is kind of tight).

I buy cds and DVDs more than games, so If I'm down to my last gamers card I'll pick up a couple when I run in for a CD or Movie.

That way it's zero hassle for me.

Your Best Buy clerks force themselves to do two transactions instead of one? Even if you explain ahead of time that you're just going to stand there and use the gift card five seconds after you've purchased it?

Thank goodness I don't know your anal-retentive Best Buy then. Hopefully no one else here knows it, either.

It does suck, but I really don't get that upset. These "anal retentive" employees are just doing their job the way their told.

It's sucks for us, but I'm not going to take it out on them. Plus, it's not that big a deal to just buy a few GCs a head of time and keep them stock piled IMO if your store isn't lenient like mr. snowmizer's.
