Another "Pissed off at Amazon" Thread

So, I order LOTR and Hobbit collector's leatherette versions for $66 with free shipping. Well, come to find out I'm now being charged $77! Amazon increased their damn price on these books. As if they can't get any more expensive. I canceled my order, btw. I never got a reply from their customer service, so I decided to cancel over the phone because I know damn well it will be two weeks before I hear from them via email and my card will be charged $77 in the meantime. I've already been there, done that crap before.

Why didn't you try to have customer service fix the problem when you phoned to cancel? I always get quicker results calling then relying on email.

Well, I suppose I could have asked that. But you know what, I just don't think it would happen. I mean, a CSR says, "Yeah, we'll change the price for you" and blah blah blah, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get charged $77, and I have to go through a month or more of calling and explaining the issue. I'm just going to wait until the price comes down again officially, and then I'll get the books. Amazon isn't the only merchant. I've had problems with other online merchants. I have found it's just a lot easier to take matters into your own hands, rather than leaving it up to someone who you hope will really take of the matter.

So basically you're saying you don't even give them the opportunity to fix whatever the problem is, simply move on to the "pissed off" mode?
