Are people crazy about DS9??

I just wanted to share this with my DVD Talk friends.
I currently have an item up on eBay... Its the Star Trek DS9 - Bonus Featurette - DVD, its a 14 minute extra I got when I bought it from Best Buy.

Its currently going for over $41.00 ???

I'm confused!

But what ever... Guess that little 14 minute things something cool?

Just wanted to share that with you...

No, it is just that eBay is inhabited by idiots who are addicted to bidding. I saw one moron pay $75.00 for a copy of Much Ado About Nothing one month before it was rereleased on DVD by MGM.

Jesus. I should've just gone ahead and bought those DS9 sets, then made up for the insanely high price by selling the bonus BB DVD.

Well, that is just making me all tempted to pick up the Voyager Season 1 set that BB is selling with a bonus "Star Trek The Experience" featurette DVD. (That's what the preorder on bestbuy.com says is being included).

I had the bonus discs for seasons 1-3, but Best Buy f'd up and didn't get the Season 4 sets with the bonus discs distributed properly. A lot of stores only had regular sets. Because of that I just decided to buy the rest of the sets elsewhere and sold my first 3 for a good amount. Then I see Season 4 sets with the bonus disc this week at Best Buy. Oh well...would have been happy to keep them but I didn't want an incomplete set.

People buy them at ridiculous prices for one of several reasons:

1) They are speculators and are buying so they can sell later for profit.

2) They are collectors and want complete collection of the set they are collecting.

3) They desparately want to see those extra footage and have money to burn.

I'm a fan of DS9(own all 7 w/bonus discs), however there is no way I would pay that much for so little material..

So what you guys are saying is that the bonus disc is not worth it? I own Season 1-4, and am about to order Season 5. The Season 5 with bonus disc is $15 more. Is it worth it or no? I believe it comes with a DS9 sketchbook and extra about the Ferengi culture.

I just bought them from Best Buy as they came out, paying some premium versus the absolute lowest price, but not ebaydiculous premiums.

I'd pay $10-15 more for them (hell, I *did* pay $10-15 more for them).

Some of them are pretty decent (some of the early ones only have a pathetic 10 mins or so of footage). I paid the $$$ because I'm a sucker for extra supplements and I knew (based on the TNG ones) that they were going to get pricey on the secondary market. Now I have all 7, and I can sleep well without my inner collector bugging me that I'm 'missing' something.

So, yes, I think the bonus disc is worth paying a bit more for... but there's no way I'd shell out $50 for one of them.
