Bad Boys II Package Mis-Print or Contractual Obligation?
I picked up Bad Boys II today and noticed on the front of the cover it says A Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer Production. Ths struck me as odd because isn't Don Simpson Dead? I thought he died under mysterious cricumstances about 5+ years ago.
So is this just a mis-print at Columbia or was it a contract that if a sequel was made that Don Simpson got Co-Producer credit?

This is not a mistake. Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer made Bad Boys (the first one) together, so the only fitting thing was to have the sequel, as well, from them. It's a fitting tribute in my mind, especially considering I never thought I'd see the Don Simpson/ Jerry Brucheimer logo again in the theater. So no, it is not a misprint but it looks like something that was done in very good taste.

Yup, I think this was more like in honor of Don Simpson. You'll notice they also kept the billing order the same, with Martin Lawrence getting top billing and Will Smith second. Granted, in any other flick that would never happen...Will Smith is the bigger star.

I believe Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer Films is a business entity that still exists. Since that company produced the first film, it probably owned sequel production rights, as well. That Bruckheimer chose to use that production company name instead of transferring the sequel rights to another company (such as Jerry Bruckheimer Films) was probably as a tribute, as the previous posters suggest.

Yeah, it really annoys me when one movie is matted and the other scope. Also, huge differences in length are kinda annoying too. But not as bad as aspect ratios. Grrr.

Also, is it possible that it has something to do with the budget? If I remember correctly, Bad Boys was made for approximately 20 million. Bad Boys II was made for approximately 120 million.
