I will omit what you have seen and recommend these (I have seen all of his movies):

1) Fong Sai Yuk I
2) Tai Chi Master

4) My Father is a Hero
5) New Legend of Shaolin
6) Once Upon a Time in China I and II
7) Martial Arts of Shaolin (Available only OOP-PAL DVD currently)

My top 5.

Hero
Fist of Legend (which you've seen)
Tai Chi Master
Fong Sai Yuk I and II
Shaolin Temple

I hated New Legend of Shaolin.

1) Dr Wai and Scripture of No Words
2) Most -if not all- his U.S. work
3) Kids from Shaolin
4) The Master (Depending how you look at it. It's worth buying for the great cheesy 80's feel. Jet Li comes to L.A., and mixes it up with some L.A. gangbangers that were weaker than Menudo. I cherish it though....)

I will second love for these movies

Fong Sai Yuk (AKA the Legend)
My Father is a Hero (AKA The Enforcer)
Tai Chi Master (AKA Twin Warriors)
Hero (AKA Not released in the US for a long time)

You can find Region free HK versions of these movies for very little money. With the exception of Hero, they may not be the best quality but they are Uncut and subtitled.

Fist of the Legend
Bodyguard from Bejing (AKA The Defender)

The miramax versions saddly might be the versions of these movies available. If you find a copy of the OOP Ritek Dvd of FOTL, it is uncut, but it is only dubbed in Mandarin.

Why no mention of Kiss of the Dragon, not really a US movie per se because it was filmed in France from a Luc Besson script and it is a welcome departure from alot of the wire work he was being forced to do in his most recent films. It is a gritty, straight forward fighting movie that, to me, kicks ass. Very violent too.

He has done some stinkers in China also, lets be a little realistic, but his US work has been sorely lacking, with the exception of Kiss of the Dragon, but I dont think that counts as a sole US release.

My advice: avoid anything he's done with Wong Jing. Gravitate towards anything he's done with either Corey Yuen, Tsui Hark or Yuen Woo-Ping.

In my opinion, his best movie is My Father is a Hero (Hero was good but I thought it reeked of Miramax), but the best fights come from Fist of Legend.

His best... non-Chinese movie has to be Kiss of the Dragon. After that, take your pick. The rest are about the same.

If you can't find the DVDs, you can probably find the VCDs somewhere on the net.

just saw Tai Chi Master last night...

what can i say? great fight choreography...crappy acting with a crappy storyline and even crappier "humor"...

man, it's like the best and the worst hand in hand...

is Hero anything like that?
