What would cause the dvd tray on a my 5 disc DVD changer...

to open and then close really fast. It won't stop at all, preventing me from putting any discs in it. I'd like to hope that this is a simple problem or a cheap fix, as this is my primary player to play DVD-Rs. My machine is a Pioneer DV-503

Any chance you have the changer fully loaded, or partially loaded and possibly moved it? I had the problem you described when I moved apts last time, however it was with my 5 cd changer. I had left it loaded with cds, and when I moved it, one came out of the slot to hold it, so it was sorta jammed in there... So the door would open and close right away. To fix I had to tilt it upside down and play around with it like one of those games where you have to put the balls in the little slots... If you had any dvds in it, and moved it, quite a bit, could possibly be the problem.

The top is pretty easy to take off, four screws, try that. You then might be able to see what the problem is.

I once had a 5 Disc Cd changer that started opening and closing by itself. Took in for service it was a misaligned tray. Probably something similiar with yours, unplug it an take it in if its still under warranty.
