need some recommendations for a really good receiver under $1000.00...

I want to upgrade my old Sony(STR-DA1075) to a new unit. I don't really want to spend over 1000.00. what piece would you recommend getting? it has to have component video switching with little/no loss and atleast 5 A/V inputs. if it has more that would be even better. thank you for any help.

For that budget there are alot of nice choices.

Compare Onkyo, Yamaha and Denon. Also try Outlaw Audio.

whats the diff. between the 3802 and 3803? I noticed a 300.00 diff. between the 2.

another question: what bandwidth will let an HD signal pass without any loss? I see some that say 50MHz while others say 100MHz for the component switching?

the 3803 does component upsample. In other words, whatever the video source going in, it comes out component. I think it might have like 5 more watts per channel, too. I've been really pleased w/ this receiver. You should be able to pick it up (in the B&M stores, even) for < $1K. Good luck.

The H/K AVR7200 is a great choice for under $1k. I believe people were calling up 6ave and getting the 3803 for $699 as well not too long ago.

If it were my money I would go with the NAD T752

http://www.nadelectronics.com/av_rec...52_framset.htm

It sells for $1199 in Canada.

I think I want to get the 3803. they list both the 3802 and the 3803 at www6ave.com. I wonder if I would get lucky and get the 3803 for the cost of the 3802? I just don't have good luck when it comes to that kind of deal.

this one had the best pure sound quality to my ears, but it may lack some bells and whistles you're looking for.
if you have a NAD dealer within 50 miles, i would recommend looking them up and seeing if you can get one of these home for the weekend.

depending on how much trouble you want to go to with this purchase, of course...
