Carnivale 11/23

Only one show left!

This is one truly amazing show. Like 24, and daytime soaps, an episode can capture my attention without having a lot of events occur. Tonight seemed to be different than all the episodes previously aired (many major events happened), yet it didn't seemed rushed.

The last episode is labeled as the "season" finale, so I assume this means another season is coming for sure. I guess this means that we will be left with unanswered questions after the next episode. I wonder if he will be able to heal Ruthie?

Spoiler:
it looked like they showed the back of her head inside a trailer during the sneak preview for next week, but I wasn't completely sure it was her--even so, maybe he still wasn't able to heal her?

Carnivale 11/23 "Day of the Dead"

With Management's blessing, Lodz hatches a devious plan to "reach" Ben, who is vulnerable after letting his guard down with Ruthie and in Mintern, Balthus is concerned about the influences surrounding Brother Justin, as well as some fiery allegations that Tommy Dolan threatens to make public.

Solid episode this week. Look's like all hell is gonna break loose in next week's season finale!

For as close to the end as we are it seemed like a lot of filler to me. They spent more time on the Jonesy and Stumpy love triangles than anything else and I don't even care what happens with that anymore. Too much like a soap opera. This was the second episode in a row that I thought went too slow.

This would've been a good episode for the middle of the season, but at this point I'm more interested in what's going on with Ben and Justin.

I've loved every episode of this show so far, but if the next episode has the same pacing as all the others, I just don't see how they can conclude the season/series/whatever in a satisfying way. I'm bracing myself for a disappointment, but I hope I'm pleasantly suprised.
So, the sister burned down the church. I never saw that one coming at all.
Can't wait for next week when
Spoiler:
Ben finally talks to Management.

I was guessing the reason he couldn't heal her was because there wasn't enough life around for him to "steal"

Oh, and my gf still insists
Spoiler:
Lodz raped momma

That was about all this episode was good for - laughs. Lotsa good quotes in this one

off the top of my head-
Rita Sue: "You didn't seem to mind when I was sucking the head off your hammer!"

Stumpy yelling at Appy: "Hello Appy! I like your new hair-do"
Sophie: "She's not deaf"

Libby: "You were drunker than a fiddler's bitch!"

Exactly how drunk is a fiddler's bitch?

On the Carnivale section of the hbo website, it mentions somewhere about how the series is schedule for 3 seasons. It was a while back that I read it, so not sure if its still there.

This was only the second episode I have caught but I have hooked. And not just because of Tequila induced teen lesbian scenes.

Just to clarify my post above, when I said "Like 24, and daytime soaps, an episode can capture my attention without having a lot of events occur" I, in no way, meant to imply that I watch daytime soaps.

Somebody called "Iris" on the fire back when it happened, but I can't remember who. Whoever that was should take a bow.

I agree with the complaint(s) made about the amount of time spent on the Sofie-Jonsie-Stumpy-Rita Sue story. Its entertaining, but it doesn't seem to leave enough time for the main stories of Ben and Justin. Maybe if the show were two hours long...

So, has Sofie actually started to gain the powers of her mother? Its hard to tell if the mother is really going insane since we can't actually hear what she is saying to Sofie when she "speaks."

Yeah, I can get behind that, also. I preferred her w/ brown hair, but that's a minor quibble. I love girls who have that kind of cuteness mixed w/ raw carnality

(Carla Gugino is their Avatar.)

*Sob* (thinking of Karen Sisco in limbo...)
