kubrick collection

yo yo whats up ninjas and ninjetes? What is up with this kubrick collection, iam about to ask for it for xmas but i gotta ask my dvdtalk homies first to get the thumbs up and all. I read its not even wide screen which kinda makes me wonder that it will be wack as hell cuz pan and scan is wack. So is this worth it, quality wise and all? Thanks yall. MUCH CLOWN LOVE.

All are presented in the correct aspect ratios as indicated by Mr. Kubrick for home presentation.

Some of the movies are widescreen, but a few are shown in open[matte . . . NOT pan & scan. This was done because Stanley Kubrick did not like the WS format on TV's (something about not liking "those little black bars" . . . just kidding ) and specifically stated that he didn not want those movie released in WS for HT's. Here is the breakdown of the set (including the aspect ratios):

- Barry Lyndon (1.66:1)
- A Clockwork Orange (1.66:1)
- Full Metal Jacket (1.33:1)
- The Shining (1.33:1)
- 2001: A Space Odyssey (New Anamorphic Widescreen Edition, 2.10:1)
- Dr. Strangelove (1.33:1)
- Eyes Wide Shut (1.33:1)
- Lolita (1.66:1)
- Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures (1.33:1)

The thought of a Juggalo watching a Kubrick film makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm sure they only watch The Shining and parts of A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket.

Frankly, Criterion did a much better job with this film than I could ever hope for from Warner. I'm happy to buy it separate from the set.

Word... That and Spartacus is owned by Universal, not WB.

You should also pick up The Killing and Paths Of Glory from MGM.

And while I'm here... is your friend... This topic has been discussed to death, and then some.
