How long before DVDs show up at the 99 Cents Only Stores?

You know it's bound to happen. How long will we have to wait for this glorious day?

It will be a while, but can you imagine the selection they will have?

Land Before Time Part 22
From Justin to Kelly
Gigli
Kazaam
Police Academy 14

But then again, for 99 cents, I'd pick everyone of them up

I think any of the 5.88 DVDs at Wal-Mart could and should go down to .88 or 1.88.

I have seen one dvd at the dollar store so far. Some drama that looked so boring I would have shot my brains out and onto the floor after watching it just to get it out of my head.

I have bought vhs movies from there, quite a few actually.

Yeah it will take awhile. I mean look at VHS now its cheap cheap cheap. 10-15 years ago you would have paid as much for VHS as you do for DVD today. It'll happen it's just a matter of when.

Think we should we add Madacy's release of Metropolis to that list?

That's 99 cents too many for that title.

I don't know how much they cost, but I see various budget titles (like Madacy and other low-quality, out-of-copyright stuff) at Walgreens all the time.

CD's came out, what, twelve years before DVD's?
So I estimate we'll see $.99 DVD's at the Dollar Store some fifteen years after we begin seeing $.99 CD's at the Dollar Store!

I think things move along a bit faster these days. The actual DVD is so cheap compared to a VHS blank tape we will see many small companies taking Public Domain copies of movies and issueing them for under a buck. I'm starting to see plenty of 'Horror" classics and 'Double/Triple/Quad' movie collections for $5 now.

I think CD prices are just insane to begin with.

The stores here in SoCal have been carrying CDs for a few years now. They're groups you've never heard of in most cases, and for good reason I'm sure.

I got a how-to-play guitar DVD at a 99 cent store- haven't watched it yet but it's taught by a 12 year old girl! Couldn't pass it up for less than the price of a blank though!

That reminds me of when I went to Grocery Outlet and found 2 boxes of Blair Witch 2 dvd's for $2.99 each. I wish I would have bought some to give to my enemies for presents.

yeah a few of the 99cent stores out here by me has some now.. It not really that shocking being the DVD's are not really films, more sports blooper or workout this and that. Ya can tell it's really old footage and so on.. Pure junk to be honest...

My wonder is how long till they start to show in the thrift / goodwell etc shops. I mean the 99cent store I can see being a DVD is just like any other product that went overstock for whatever reason. For them to be in goodwill and so on means people are just giving them away rather then throw them out. Sort of like how the VHS tapes are just given away it seems.

The original Artisan Highlander DVD is worth no more than $.99 cents.
