Playmakers may get cancelled due to critizeation from nfl
Disney Chairman Michael Eisner indicated on Thursday that ESPN's Playmakers, although a hit for the cable network, would not be returning for another season. The series had been roundly criticized by executives of the National Football League for portraying some players as drug and wife abusers. During a conference call to discuss Disney's fourth-quarter earnings report, Eisner said that with Playmakers,"ESPN moved into a new area with the kind of noise and the kind of quality necessary" to attract an audience, which he said, included his three sons. However, he added, the cable sports network would probably now move on to produce another drama that "won't be as controversial."

If that's the case, I bet Oliver Stone gets a shed load of death threats from the secret service.
And people, please use m-w.com before making words up next time. It's bad enough people can differentiate between its and it's, or there and their, but making up words? Damn.

I never saw more than 15 seconds of the show, but it looked a little too melodramatrizaticalized to me.

Why not just tone down the show and keep it on air? It was getting too "out there" with thier silly Boston Public-like over the topness, and that kind of stuff can't keep the show going forever anyways.
