Anywhere to get Gamecube component cables for cheaper than $35 shipped?
Has anyone found Gamecube component cables (first party or otherwise) for less than $35 shipped that Nintendo's company store charges?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Do these things make much of a difference on the GameCube over the S-video cable? Do many games support progressive scan?
I was thinking about buying these, but I'm not sure if it would be a worthwhile purchase.

Sorry to go off-topic, but....
I just bought a TV that supports component cables, and saw some component video cables at Blockbuster for $12.99. I bought them since it seemed like a great price. I guess I could search or look at BB or CC next time I'm there, but I was just curious if 12.99 was a good price for generic video component cables.
Back on topic, I guess I need these cables that juiio is asking about, if they are that much better than s-video.

I have a WEGA and the component cables do make a significant difference. It's not progressive scan but the picture is really sharp. I have component cables that are available for all my systems, as well as a VGA adaptor for my Dreamcast. Boy, there's nothing like razor-sharp picture quality to brighten your games!

I have a WEGA, but I don't see any difference between S-Video and component, at least for my PS2. Progressive scan games through the component cables (with everything enabled) look the same to me as playing the same game with s-video. Both look great.
I never tried s-video for the cube, but the difference between composite cables and componenet was AMAZING.

On a somewhat similar topic (Gamecube video cables)...
I bought a Gamecube last week and purchased an S-video cable as well. When I plugged the cable into the GC and my S-video switch box (I have a PS2, DVD, STB, and GC all plugged into a switch box to use the one lonely S-video port on my TV), I got a very, very, VERY pixelated image that looked worse than when using my GC with the free composite cables.
I thought something was wrong with the cable, so I exchanged it. However, the second cable resulted in the exact same thing! I wanted to know if anyone else using S-video cables on the Gamecube has experienced such problems? My PS2, DVD, and STB all work fine, so I don't think it's my S-video switch box that is the problem.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Could my Gamecube's s-video encoding hardware be buggy? The composite looks fine on it, and actually provides a sharper image than the s-video, which is driving me nuts!

Yeah, I realize that would be the intelligent thing to do. I've been meaning to try that, but with the jungle of wires behind my entertainment center and the heavy weight of my TV (making it difficult to remove from the wall), I just haven't got around to it. However, since playing Mario Kart (the only reason I bought the GC) is being spoiled for me, I must test this out.

I use the Monster S-VHS cable to hook up my GCN in the living room. The TV is 52", but not progressive scan. I can tell you that the improvement over composite cables is quite noticeable. Colors are sharper and there's less noise, flickering, and sparkly bits. If you have an S-VHS port on your TV, make sure you take advantage of it.
In the bedroom I have a 27" WEGA with 16:9 enhancement. There I use the component cables and the picture is great. It's a more subtle improvement over S-VHS than S-VHS is over composite, but it's there. Colors are a bit more delineated and things look sharper overall (especially with widescreen games in 16:9...wow!). But you're really not going to see a lot of difference between component and S-VHS unless you have a progressive scan set.
AFAIK, the component cable is only manufactured and distributed by Nintendo themselves. Incidentally, I found a used but good as new component cable at GameStop for $13 two weeks ago, so make sure you check around there first before ordering directly from the big N.
