Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended) impressions...
I'm on the way to get this right now, but just wanted to see what everyone felt about it now that it's out.

I watched a number of extras last night and as one would guess it's far more in depth than any other set. The features are all very very long and the are packed with really interesting footage.
I can't wait to watch all of the film. The first movie seemed a million times better when it was done as a EE edition. I'm sure the extended cut of this film will also be excellent.
I almost thought about passing on this until after the LOTR Trilogy Tuesday theater marathon but I caved and just went ahead and bought it. I'm so glad I did.

Just got back from Best Buy. Got my-eeen. 3 BB Bucks made it $21.99, and that was ok with me.
Oh hey, we need to put SPOILER in this thread. Some people don't know the TT:EE box is dark red/maroon in color. I would hate to spoil the moment for them.

TTT Impressions
It's beautiful and jam-packed like I suspected, but I did notice one thing. on the bottom corners of the screen throughout the whole movie, the edges seem just a little rounded. not much, but just noticeable. is this just my tv? doesn't do this in the FOTR EE.

I've watched all the design documentaries last night, loved them all. Even looked at some of the design galleries, which seem to have more audio commentaries than last time. Great artwork, definitely check this out if you don't normally look at this kind of special feature on other discs.
They did a better job here on TT:EE of showing you stuff that the interviewee mentions (i.e. in the Gollum piece, an animator mentions 'freak rendering accidents' then they cut to two visual examples). In the FotR:EE, there were several occasions where a deleted scene or outtake, or blooper reel was mentioned, yet none of it appeared anywhere on the disc.
In fact I have been meaning to compile a list of stuff mentioned on the dvds that isn't actually on the dvds, as material for a possible future release (for example: 5 minute blooper reels were created for each actor, and Fran mentions a blooper done by Gandalf where he pops out from behind a rock while in Hollin and says 'Spies of Star Wars', instead of 'Spies of Saruman', yet this blooper doesn't appear on the FotR:EE, nor do any others)
Not that there wasn't tons of stuff on FotR:EE but, hey, if they are going to mention it, at least I want to see it! I'm glad that hasn't happened so far in the docs on TT:EE.
I will watch the actual movie, tonight.

A bit further into the Director's commentary, I am really glad to see that Peter Jackson still seems to be having a blast on this project, jokingly
This track is really quite interesting and seems more fun to listen to than the FOTR one.

My post from the other TTT thread:
Another great improvement over the theatrical version. Most of the new scenes fit in really well, and fleshed out existing scenes much better than the theatrical version. Nearly everything new is character moments. There are a few other scenes that are great, but I can see why they took them out originally because they cut into the mood of the film.
I've gone through about an hour and a half of the docs on disc 3, and tonight I'll either watch one of the commentaries, or more docs.

To see Gollum, go to the first disc's Chapter Select screen.
Go the right hand column that has the sub-selects and choose the last one (Chaps 29-30).
Highlight chapter 30 and then press DOWN on your remote.
A ring should be highlighted at the bottom the screen.
Enjoy.
I'm willing to bet that there's a preview for ROTK on the second disc, too, but I'm too lazy to find it now.

Find any easter eggs like on the first installment? That MTV one was a crack up. I haven't watched it in over a year I hope I wrote down how to find it.
