Um, why would there be a WS version? Hasn't it always been in fullscreen? I'd find watching a TV show in WS distracting for some reason, even though that's how I prefer to watch movies.

Ah, that's right. I still don't find much appeal in WS TV, since for the most part, you're seeing everything you're supposed to with FS.

Was it filmed/aired in HD widescreen in season 1, though? Probably not.

Can't wait to pick this up on Tuesday! A very underrated and hilarious series that deserves more attention than it gets...

I could not agree more. Especially "Raymond," which I actually prefer over "Seinfeld."

"Seinfeld" deserves its place among the classic sitcoms of all time, but I think "Raymond" does just as much.

I always felt "Seinfeld" contained a lot of frivilous episodes that were sometimes stupid and overly silly. Most were not, but a lot, especially towards the last few seasons, were.

"Raymond," on the other hand, has always showcased nothing but strong episodes. In fact, I don't ever remember saying "That was just okay" at the end of any "Raymond" episodes. It is always "Yet another great episode."

How about the episode where Ray told his parents that his wife suggested Robert may be gay?

That episode was horrible.

While I enjoy King of Queens, it seems pretty early for this to be coming out considering it recently went into syndication.

Not really. It's been around since 1998, which a lot of people aren't probably aware of since it's gotten relitively no hype since its debut. There are plenty of shows that've only been around a couple years that are getting DVD releases and they're not nearly as worthy.

Yes it will be Anamorphic widescreen. It will also have a DTS track and alternate endings on several episodes.

Leah Remini...

Any chance of a brick and mortar carrying it for less than $25?

That would be reasonable considering that's how much Mad About You went for when it initially hit the street.

Here's my question.

Will it feature the lousy opening credits that were featured in the first season (just a tacky title card that showed "King of Queens" being spray-painted onto a brick wall)

or

will it feature: "My eyes are getting weary / my back is gettin' tight. / I'm sitting here in traffic / on the Queensborough bridge tonight...."

The first couple of years might not have been wide, but CBS has definitely been running WS HDTV versions of this show for at least the past 2 seasons. I would guess that the later seasons will be released widescreen on DVD.

BTW, it looks great in WS HDTV!

I know this thread is 5 days old but just to answer your question for anyone else who may wonder and havn't bought it yet... Yes it has the crappy little subway/brickwall intro... except the 2 bonus episodes that have the new intro that you mentioned
