Anyone pick up TRUE CRIME (Xbox) and having freezing?
got the game at work today. Started playing when I got home. Got through Episode 1 OK, but during Ep. II, the game froze. Turned off the system, turned it back on, began playing again and the game froze. This happened a few more times before I gave up. I'm getting a new copy tomorrow, but I'm trying to figure out if it is the system or the game (may just get both replaced to be safe), and wondering if anyone else is having problems.

from what I have played I like it (much better than the highly overrated GTA series so far, I've played all the GTA games on the PC and they get boring very quickly, TC's mission system seems to suit my taste better).

it had quite alot of bugs not too long ago and enough time hasn't passed for them to fix them in time for release... I'm not surprised it has some bugs now. If this is indeed a bug and not just something else. We'll see.

I have heard of the freezing, and it seems to only be a problem on the Xbox version. I don't have my copy yet (of the GC version), so it's tough for me to help... Probably just a copy from a bad batch that can easily be exchanged.

I played about an hour's worth last night, and had no freezing (Xbox version). I completed the shooting range mission, the driving/race mission, and was in the middle of the "catch bad guys while driving to meet partner for lunch" mission when I called it quits. The game looks great on my 46" DLP TV in 720p; but I admit that I'm struggling a bit with the controls. I haven't quite mastered how the auto-aiming is supposed to work. But I only had an hour with it.

well, being an EB employee, I returned the game fo another copy and returned my Xbox for a new one (I did it fairly, I buy the ESA's they make us pitch for just such a reason). Now I have a brand new Xbox and a new copy of True Crime. Haven't had time to check out the game yet to make sure it works, I've been busy restoring my Xbox Live account, and now it is time to take the dogs to the vet. I did get lucky enough to get a box with the Samsung drive though which is really cool!

One of the drives is more prone to disc read errors. The way to tell, partly anyway, is one has a O shaped hole in the drive tray, and the other is U shaped. But I can't remember which is which. Someone else probably can help me out there.

Taken from Gromit's post in another thread:
"...if its phillps it will have a light bulb shape, if its a thomson it has a perfect U shape and if its samsung it will have 2 extra holes on the tray, one on each sides."

Mine is also the Thomson. However, I believe I remember reading that there are two version of the thomson drives, the older more prone to having problems and a newer one. Since my Xbox is under a year old, I am guessing it is the newer drive. I have also never had ANY disc read problems with my unit in the 9+ months I have used it.
