Episode: 'The Shipment'
Written By: Chris Black & Brent V. Friedman
Directed By: David Straiton
This might be the episode where we find out Starfleet intelligence was misleading the president and the Xindi don't really have WMD after all.
Archer, Reed and Major Hayes infiltrate a Xindi-Sloth industrial colony to learn more about the weapon of mass destruction that will be used against Earth.

Good one, Chew.
So this guy at work says to me, “Hey, Wizdar” (he actually calls me Wizdar [but not bolded] once in a while, since he lurks here on occasion, but I digress), “Hey, Wizdar,” he says, “is there a new one this week?” And I says, “Fug if I know,” and went back to work.
That’s about as exciting as it’s gonna get, I’m thinnking.

Not bad, I suppose. Pretty simple, but watchable.
Trip runs like a girl.
So, there’s five species, and only one has a name?
The direction this Xindi “arc” is taking is obvious now:
Damfino, thanks for the
Nice homage to Columbia.

I actually liked this episode, I must have been in a good mood or something.

[geek speak] They flamed the shuttlepod on entry into the atmosphere on purpose to mask it from detection and make it look like a meteor. I’m thinking this should happen always anyway, but they wasted a half-minute of film and an SPFX shot to make the point, so we must assume TPTB don’t consider it normal. [/geek speak]
Lots of atmosphere-entry shots from the past (especially on Voyager), and this is the first time they flamed it. [geek speak] Prolly the shields protected them from ionization, but the Enterprise shuttlepods don’t have shields, so WTF?? [/geek speak]
I just mentioned Columbia for those who see parallels everywhere. I doubt seriously the Bright Boy squad [B&B&C] would have the brainpower to see any kind of parallel.
Just consider it a joke in very poor taste. Apologies offered to anyone offended.
Speaking of the beginning, anybody notice that this season they are offering very short pre-credits openings? This ep was different, but only because of the flashbacks.

non-flaming entries can be explained since they have all sorts of antigrav and hoovering thrusters they probably normally enter an atmosphere slow enough to not cause flames. the only reason stuff normally flames is due to the speed. they probably normally enter at the speed that jets fly at now. an F14 at mach2 doesn't flame
there was a next gen ep where some kid stole a shuttle and the thrusters cut out. he started flaming on entry

Yeah, I remember that ep now. Good catch, mike.
I thought about the speed issue, but I was already to the point of wanting to pull out my pocket protector and needed to stop.
BUT! [geek speak] In the TNG episode you mentioned, shouldn’t the shields have protected the kid from burning up? Huh??

Finally saw the episode and it wasn't bad. Both Hoshi and Mayweather actually had dialogue which is always fun. Reed needs to get in some traget practice though - that flying thing was almost point blank range and he couldn't destroy it.
