Bad Santa
The trailer for Bad Santa was shown before Scary Movie 3 this weekend , there was a lot of laughs in the beginning, and then John Ritter came on the screen and the theater when silent except for a few awwws. It was kind of sad. The movie looks ok.
Anyone else have a similar experience for this trailer ?

Yeah, when John Ritter shows up, there's a lump in my throat. Sad.
Otherwise, I plan on seeing it because I like the idea, and the trailer was done pretty well.

I didn't think the trailer was much cop, but the film itself will probably be much, much better. There's probably a lot that they had to tone down/replace for a trailer to make it look more like a family film.

I saw the trailer before Kill Bill: Vol. 1 last weekend, and it seemed like a really bad formula film--cute kid saves soul of grown-up loser. I think we've seen this already recently, except it was called The School of Rock (and by the looks of things, Rock does it much better).

The use of a kid and a bad man seems very cliche. But, execution is paramount here. And I hope Terry Zwigoff is up to the challenge. I liked "Ghost World" and if it's as quirky as that, then it might be worth seeing.

Rated R for pervasive language, strong sexual content and some violence.
wow, that doesn't seem like the trailer at all. it looked like surely a pg13 movie.

Sorta off-topic.... but I thought that Zwigoff was writing another movie with Clowes. Based on his Art School Confidential strip. I wonder if this is still supposed to be happening.

This looks really funny, but I find it odd that little attention it has being recieving. With the holidays and its release date around the corner (Nov. 26th) you think we would start to hear more about it. Anyone know more about this or seen an advance screening/reviews?

I've seen the trailer. Thought it looked terrible. But I thought: Hey, the Cohen Brothers... Terry Zwigoff... It's gotta be decent right?... Right?

I'm surprised at how differently this movie is being marketed on TV and in the theater. The trailer seemed to focus on an obnoxious little boy who helps turn Thorton's character into a better person, as if that was the main focus of the movie. The TV ads I saw this weekend didn't show the child (or love interest) at all, marketing it as some sort of vulgar comedic heist.

I find that hard to believe, considering 1) All the awards Miramax has won for the studio, and 2) The long track record of horror movies released by Dimension without a word said about them.
