Code Free Tosh 2805 problems Help!
Hey guys & Gals,
I have the Tosh 2805 and recently it has been pausing and jumping ahead after the layer switch for anywhere from 10 seconds to several minutes every 2-3 minutes after the layer change. It happens on both R1 and R2 discs to date (Gangs of New York & Spooks Season 1)
Anyone know what this problem is? And, do I need to get a new player (had this one for 2 years)
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks

...erm... clean the laser...?... (I bought my two players in 1997 and 1998, respectively, and never had any problem of the sort you describe)

So which one of those DVD lens cleaners is the best? Are DVD lens cleaners functionally different from CD lens cleaners? I have 2 CD lens cleaners that I've used on my Toshiba SD3750 and neither fixed a problem I've had for some time that I posted about awhile back:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...toshiba+sd3750
My problem copy and pasted:
I have a Toshiba SD-3750 DVD player, and on some movies, there's a very brief (1/10 of a second or less, probably) flicker, where the screen is all scrambled, like it doesn't know how to decode the information. It occurs at the same spots everytime, usually inbetween one high-intensity camera shot transferring to another high-intensity camera shot, or from a low-intensity scene to a high-intensity shot or vice versa. I think it always occurs inbetween camera shots, not in the middle of a camera shot where there isn't an edit to another camera shot. For instance, it happens probably 5 or 6 times during the Menu sequence on the Matrix DVD. There's a bunch of scenes edited together, most of which are high-intensity with lots of explosions & action, and inbetween some of the the edits the screen goes mostly black and there's a bunch of scrambled colors & lines for the briefest of moments before returning to normal.
If anyone has any idea what's causing this or if there's any setting or anything else to fix this, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
---------------------------------------------
Since then, the problem itself hasn't worsened, but it does happen with greater frequency. I don't know if it's just dirty and I need to use a DVD lens cleaner and not just a CD lens cleaner or if it's something else that's more serious. If anyone has a similar problem and/or knows how to fix it, please let me know.
Thanks.

Thanks guys.
The first shop I went too told me it would be about $150 just to take the top off of the player. I guess that means I'll be getting a new player sooner than I thought.
