Indiana Jones - subtitles not going away on all three movies

I know, I know... "Not another Indiana Jones thread!" Sorry.

Is anyone else having problems with subtitles not going away on their discs? All three discs of mine have this problem. I've tried turning them off with my remote and through the disc menu... neither work. Suggestions?

Try another DVD and see if it happens with that. It could be your DVD player, possibly.

No, no other discs have ever given me this problem. I popped in a disc to make sure it wasn't a recent problem, but the subtitles worked normally.

Are they coming on automatically? Or can you not turn 'em off AFTER you've turned 'em on?

Mine seem okay. I tried the first 2 movies and the subs don't automatically come on when I play the disc.

I know, not much help w/your problem....

The subtitles come on automatically, and they can't be turned off.

Ah, okay gotcha. Very weird... especially since it happens on all 3 discs.

Try 'em in a different player, if possible. Sounds like you'll have to take 'em back.

Good idea... I'll try them on my portable tomorrow. (Unfortunately, I don't have a DVD-ROM drive.)

Edit: Called the place I bought it from... they don't take returns/exchanges on media, but they're giving me a credit for the purchase. And I don't even have to return the discs, which is really surprising.

Yeah, I decided not to post the store with the generous return policy, since I could see people trying to take advantage of that.

Check out the Feedback Forum FAQ... there's a section on Missing Buttons.

And my player is a Toshiba SD-2800.

Dangit. I bought it again from Best Buy, and the same thing happens. Is no one else experiencing this problem?

I'm sorry this just struck me as funny.

I envision a couple of guys sitting around a board meeting when and some crazy guy comes in yelling your post.

It's probably just me.

No, I didn't get to try my portable yet. I'm going to guess that it'll work fine on it, though.

Edit: I figured it out. I had turned on closed captioning with my TV. I bet both sets are just fine. False alarm!
