Anyone know if the Coby DVD-218 can be made region free?

On another site I found out that this is under $30 at outpost.com. I did a little searching and according to another site it mentions that it is region code free with remote control.

I was looking into getting the Philips 727 but at half the price if this can be made region free, I might give it a whirl.

Does anyone have any feedback on this Coby DVD-218? Do you know how to enable it to be region free?

Thanks for the help!

From another site:

with no disk in the player press:
Setup, Vol+, Vol-, Vol+, Vol-

in the right upper corner a current region code would appear. You could switch between 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 255 using Right and Left buttons. I beleive, 255 is for multy-region.
If you press Up (or Down) button you can get into macrovision menu from here. Again, using Left or Right buttons switch between 3000 (Off) and 3001 (On) values.

DVD-player keeps these new settings even after powering Off.

Haven't heard much about the Coby, but if it's anything like the rest of their electronics I'd suggest going for the Philips or the Toshiba 3900, whichever floats your boat.

Do you know if the Toshiba 3950 can be hacked? Is it an improvement over the 3900?

Thanks, there are no hacks on that site for the 3950. I'm sticking with the 3900 looks like a better product anyway.
