DVD Talk Easter Egg Database Beta Test!
All,
We're a short bit away from launching a much needed DVD Talk Easter Egg Database!
It's completely in it's Beta Stage, but I thought I'd give you guys a sneek peek at it:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/eggs/
what makes this different from other things on the site is that we're going to be opening it up for DVD Talk Reader submissions!!! So you can help make it an extremely comprehensive resource!
Help us build the DB by Submitting easter eggs you've found on DVDs!
http://www.dvdtalk.com/eggs/submit.php
Also any feedback on the DB would be extremely appreciated.
- G

Great idea !!! Definitely should be in ABC order. Also, really dig the idea that you give credit to the person who supplies the east egg if it's a forum member. The preview looks great so far. I'm a bit confussed about the submissions form though. For DVDs that have multiple different easter eggs (say Blade 2 for example one is a goofy feature & the other is production credits) do you have to submit each easter egg seperately or can you do it all in one? Also, does it matter if we use our real name or forum name & does it matter if we don't know the original release date? Also what if you do not have the studio listed for a release such as Live Entertainment for the Wishmaster DVD?

Hold on, I'll submit the Terminator Ultimate Edition Easter Egg with the Extended Special Edition. That will be my contribution so no one take it.
Edit: I gotta put the disc in 'cause I forgot how to do it....

Wow... Things are off to a great start!!!
Since this is still Betaware we're working out some of the features. Will probably be adding the rotating boxes on the top ala the reviews, top easter eggs, a search feature.
Anything else you guys would like to see with an Easter Egg DB?
-G
PS Thanks everyone for submitting eggs!!!

Hey Geoff can you add a "2" after Terminator in the title for the one I submitted, or you can delete it & I'll submit it again.
Also, you might want to add "Collector's Edition" to the title for the Apollo 13 submission unless you can do that with the DTS version or just for clarity.

Excellent addition to the forum. A bunch of my submissions already made it in. The only thing I can think of to add to the DB is a way for the "type of submission" choice to display multiple additions. For instance, I submitted the UHF easter eggs which has about 3 to 4 different eggs, it had general goofiness, outtakes etc etc, so if there is a way to pick more than one choice in that part, it would be great. Also, I made a typo in the first line (live should be love) when submitting the Beastmaster easter egg, if there is a way to fix that, all will be perfect with the new DB

I love that you can sort by 'type' of easter egg. Maybe to solve the question of the above post - that each type of easter egg should be a seperate entry.
i.e. Instead of one easter egg listing for UHF, have 3 or 4, one for each 'type' of easter egg.
Either way, I think this is a great idea, and I will use this very frequently once it is done!

Just so everyone knows there is a website out there that has alot of Easter Eggs listed on them. If anyone wanted a lotta credit they could just "borrow" them

I always have gone to:
http://www.dvdreview.com/html/hidden_features.shtml
for my easter egg needs. They have TONS listed. You might want to check our list against theirs.

I just typed in 'lord' to see the eggs for 'lord of the rings' and it said:
"Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /usr/local/apache/sites/dvdtalk.com/htdocs/eggs/index.php on line 260"
??
Im using a mac with a very buggy IE so maybe thats it. I could try it in one of my other browsers later.

I was thinking...is there some way to match an Easter Egg entry to the DVD's DVDTalk review, so that you could add an easter egg link to your review pages, that would take you directly to that title's easter egg entry when you click on it?
I think that made sense....

for bytor video, play documentary. about 26 minutes into, alex talks about bytor video. hit [enter] on keyboard. documentary will pause and bytor cartoon plays. documentary will resume afterwards.

Great addition to the site. I'm looking forward to seeing my Valley Girl & Critters eggs added. I'll be a published author (actually already happened as I have Critters listed on dvdreview & should've had VG).
