Robocop Criterion: Legit or Bootleg?

What are some things to look for to see if my recently purchased Robocop Criterion is legit or a bootleg. The dvd was sealed when I bought it and it does have an insert.

Sorry, Ryo . . . I've got no info for you, but I must compliment you on your choice. I'm in the process trying to track down a copy myself. Where'd you get yours?

Of course, if it turns out to be a bootleg . . . well, then nevermind.

I've never heard of a Robocop bootleg, so if you got one that's sealed you can be pretty sure that it's legit

Which part of that made you think "bootleg"?

That's how mine came.

If you want to get it the R4 SE has more features and two version of the movie via seamless branching

Nah, the r3. Same features as the r4 and anamorphic. But a different Verhoeven comm than the Criterion one.

Does it have a "director approved" sticker with Paul V's signature?

My copy of Robocop CC has no sticker and does have an insert. I got mine at Borders Books a couple of years. Catalog No. is CC15430 with a 1998 Criterion Collection copyright.

If it has a really great anamorphic transfer, it's a bootleg.

Hey, cool! I guess this means I've finally been published???

I took that picture for an Ebay auction of mine that closed last week. The link for the picture and the link in my auction are the same.

Robocop Criterion Auction

NOTE: I AM NOT ADVERTISING, AS THIS AUCTION HAS ALREADY ENDED.

Like a streak of light, we arrive just in time! Join the enlightened!

If you don't like our brand of hooliganism, be patient, and soon there'll be someone telling you there's an Anime version of Robocop that's MUCH better.
Their data is incomplete - they don't even list the r3. I remember looking all over the place trying to find a mention of it!

I bought mine at a Suncoast where they had it priced the same as the non-Criterion versions ($14.95)...mine has an insert, but no sticker...unless the sticker was part of the shrink wrap and I just don't remember it.

That's the same as my two that I purchased @ legit stores as soon as I knew it was going OOP. I've never seen a copy without the director aproved sticker on it. Of course, once it's opened, you'll never see that wrapper/sticker again.

Your's is probably not a bootleg as the original is not that rare to find.

Mine probably had the sticker on the shrink wrap and since been tossed out. I think I got mine at Borders for about $15 a few yrs back...
