28 Days Later selling at WalMart

I just saw the 28 Days Later DVD in the shelves at Walmart in Manteca, CA before the 21st streetdate! I thought retailers cannot display DVD's before the official streetdate. Maybe I'm wrong. Can someone enlighten me?

who could really care less if they break street date? they are a big company. studios really can't threaten them to pull the products because they need them as a vender as much as wal mart needs their items.

From what I understand, Wal*Mart does this with just about all of their vendors. A collegue of mine, who had done some work with them, told me stories of some of their agreements with their suppliers. The ones that amazed me the most were the contracts that basically said "We (Wal*Mart) will buy X number of items from you and if we can't sell them, you will buy them back." Practically unheard of in the business world, but like Jack said above, who's gonna say "No" to Wal*Mart.

I was serious - wasn't this film released in wide and full formats? Odd, because you know J would snap up a philosophical examination of man vs himself set against an apocalyptic, disease-ridden environment - as along as it didn't have black bars.

They weren't on the shelves yet a few minutes ago at the local Wal-Mart.

I picked up Indiana Jones dvds. Thing is, no fullscreen. Only widescreens.
