Sorry miss Knightley, but I'd rather this DVD than the one with you talking over it...

Amazon.co.jp has it as one of their 20% off titles. A little extra savings for everyone.

Is the 500 yen coupon only exclusive to customers living in Japan? I can seem to find a way to register an international address.

Looks like the coupon is good for 500 yen off for new customers. Actually got a flyer about it with my last order but didn't really nook at it too hard because I'm a long time customer.
Bill has been nice enough to post links and the suggestion of Babble fish. if you need some more help with the Japanese, just write.

How do you know....what's your source?

If this is true, then it seems that something ( like video quality) "might" have to be sacrificed since "Pirates" will already have DD5.1, 3 commentary tracks and an extra language track.

Disney has updated the specs for Pirates Of The Caribbean last week to show that it features a DTS track.

Thanks....

I guess the focus of this thread will shift onto which soundtrack WILL SOUND more superior:

DTS 5.1 Digital Surround Sound (Region 1) VS DTS-ES6.1 (Region 2)

If the movie's original soundtrack was mixed for rear-center channel audio, the DVD's Dolby Digital and DTS tracks will matrix into DD-EX and DTS-ES regardless of whether the disc is officially flagged for them or not. So it really doesn't matter. If the R1 does get DTS, the R2 should sound exactly the same, unless the R2 happens to be full bit-rate (which seems doubtful, given the length of the movie).

Good to see that R1 is in fact getting DTS. Was a bit disconcerning to see a lot of major titles without DTS (T3, Hulk, etc.)
We'll have to wait until Dec to find out if there's any differences to the track on Pirates or not.
Either way, I'll be picking up the Japanese version. Need the subtitles for my wife.
Enjoy all!!!

the reivew of R1 POC is on IGN
and indeed it has a DTS track and as predicted the VQ suffers due way too many useless commentary and language tracks

Yeah...that's what I figured would happen. I'm wondering about the VQ on the japanese dvd (considering it doesn't have all the commentary).
