Joe Strummer's Last Album 10/21

I didn't even realize it, but Joe Strummer's last album will be coming out this month on the 21st! I had heard that he recorded a third album with the Mescaleros awhile ago, but hadn't heard anything about it since his death.

And BOOM!

I was browsing Amazon.com today when I saw it up for pre-order. I encourage you all to at least pre-order it from Amazon since they give you a stream of the album to listen to until, it's released.

Oh yeah, it includes his cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song.

Wow, thanks for the heads up, this completely caught me by surprise. I LOVED the first two Mescaleros records, and was lucky enough to see them live a few years ago and meet Joe. Absolutely one of my all-time rocknroll heroes. Can't wait for the new record, thanks again!

From what I have heard so far, this is a really solid album. I think a lof artists would be proud if they could go out on such a high note.

Thanks for the heads-up. I saw Joe in Boston in 1999, and it was a milestone for me, as I never had a chance to see the Clash. I wasn't aware that he had finished another album.

I think the first two albums are really strong, mature pieces of work, and I'm also thankful that he was able to produce this kind of music over his last years.

His solo work does have a definite mature sheen to it, doesn't it?

I have heard that Strummer & Jones are the Lennon & McCartney of the punk world.

If you think about, doesn't this make sense? The two split on for creative reasons about where they wanted to take the band. Jones/McCartney chose to immediately start a new band that was strictly pop and experienced a greater popularity than their original band (albeit for a short time).

Strummer/Lennon chose to hold off recording for a while, and when he finally did he wrote more introspective pieces.
