Hank Williams III

I have the Springsteen tribute Badlands, and I LOVE Hank III's cover of Atlantic City. Sheer genius to take that song, a brilliant song, twist it around, and make it your own.

Anyhow, I'd like to listen to more of his stuff. Any info or recommendations?

Well, not exactly like Springsteen, but Hank III does play bass on the new Superjoint Ritual CD "A lethal dose of American hatred. It's some pretty raw stripped down metal though, definitely not for the masses. Pretty good stuff if you like that type of music.

Hanks solo record is awesome !
He reminds me so much of his Grandad.
Just straight up old school country.
I could not recommend this CD enough.

I just saw Hank III play tonight in Seattle. 'Twas a pretty kick ass show. He played a 50-minute set of honkytonk country songs that got progressively faster and harder. This was the first country group I've seen where the stand-up bass player has a mohawk.

After the set was done, he came back and played another set with his other band called Assjack, where he played lead guitar and didn't sing. This band was pure hardcore punk/grindcore all the way.

I love the album he released in 2002 called "Lovesick, Broke and Driftin." This is a darn good album.

he's got 2 solo country albums out- the first one being mostly covers, and the 2nd being all originals except for the springsteen cover.

he also has released 3 " bootleg" metal albums under the name ASSJACK- that he sells at his shows- the first 2 are hard to find, and go for big money.

and as mentioned above he plays bass in superjoint ritual- which is very fast, speed, thrash metal..
