Looking for Shogun reviews

DVD Talk Gold Edition
I'm looking too. I don't care about content - I know about that. I understand the source material was in very rough shape and would like to see a Video/Audio review. In fact, I won't buy till I see one.

Wow, this has a steep price. I may have to wait and try to get it used later on.

DVD Talk Legend
I have recently watched the first 2 discs of Shogun thru Netflix and have been bored to tears. I was wanting opinions to see if I should even attempt to finish the series out with the remaining 3 discs or should I give up? Does it get any better or is it at the same pace as the first 5 hours?

In my opinion, the first half of Shogun was by far the best part, so if you didn't enjoy this part, I doubt very much you'll like the rest. I really liked the first part, with the whole culture-shock theme, but found the rest only OK.

Hmm, I thought this was the greatest mini-series ever. And I have to agree with Holly that the first part is the best part. So I don't really see any reason to watch the rest, brian. How you were bored, though, I'll never understand.
