Ong Bak May: Thai Warrior

This seems to be the buzz at Toronto. Anyone have it?
Is Ethaicd trustworthy?

Sadly the thai version doesn't have english subs. No confirmation yet for the HK version which propably will have the english subs.

For $12 shipped I went ahead and ordered the Thai DVD. Quality is supposed to be quite good. I'll get a decent subtitled version when one becomes available but I'm not planning to watch this for the plot so the lack of subs isn't a deal-breaker.

I picked mine up from ethaicd a couple months ago, along with the making of dvd, and got them in about a week or so. I was very pleased with the service there.

I watched the movie right away, and like mugwump said, you can watch this movie for the action and not worry about the plot too much. The plot is actually pretty easy to follow without having the subs anyways. Haven't gotten around to watching the making of companion yet, but I had already seen the making of segments, so I know it's good.

Also, the cover is one of those shiny foil looking covers, similar to, I wanna say, Terminator (Not sure?).

I'm pretty sure that's not Beat Takeshi. Not unless Beat aged about 15 years for the movie.

A website with downloads: Great to see stuntwork instead of CGI or wirework!

I'll just add another vote saying that the movie is totally watchable without the english subtitles. You can figure the plot out enough to know what's going on. And the action sequences are amazing.

I picked it up new on Ebay for $9, but as it's getting some buzz lately, it looks like it's going for a bit more than that now. The audio and sound quality are top notch. I look forward to the HK release that assumingly will include subtitles, but even without, it's a great movie to show your friends and say THIS is what action sequences should be like.

As long as you have a region free DVD player, go for it.

Not only do you need a region free player, but one that will play PAL too.

I'm voting "I ain't gonna buy a movie if I can't understand the dialogue" so I'm waiting for a subbed version.

I just got the DVD of this movie today and had to post. Everyone was hyping the shit out of this movie, and we all know that usually is a death knell for a movie, but I took a chance, even on a DVD without subs and I have to say this movie defies expectations. Simply put, the only movie that comes close to the grittiness and plain craziness of the fighting and intensity of this movie is Drunken Master 2, nothing else. There hasnt been a movie made like this in recent memory that just gets you pumped up as you watch it, i was literally on my feet as I saw every bone crunching move. And for the purists, there is no wire or CG effects in the fighting, hell, there is so much contact made in the fight scenes it felt like I was watching a real fight. Definately hunt this movie down, even without subtitles.
