Wow, does this set ever look nice. I'm glad I already preordered my deluxe set from Amazon.

The FOTR EE giftset came with the National Geographic DVD. I was able to find one separately used later, so I'm sure I'll do the same for this.

So, are there any links that explain what's on that 'bonus' Gollum DVD.

I had no plans to buy the big box (since I think that sculpture looks like ass), but if they're throwing in a bonus DVD... well, that's a different story.

Correction, it's about the making of the statue itself.

Sorry, read too fast.

I won't buy it for myself, but one of my co-workers would LOVE this. I'll probably get it for her for Xmas.

I'm curious as to what is pushing people to buy this set. Is it the statue or the Gollum disc? I'd like the disc but even that isn't enough to convince me and that is one ugly statue.

But, hey, if any of my co-workers want to buy it for me - sweet!

Actually, the link states:

"This twenty minute disc will look at the creation of the Sméagol sculpture, as well as other Lord of the Rings collectibles. A companion book featuring original sketches of Gollum and Sméagol will also be included."

The statue looks like crap I'm sure those with the previous Gift Set will want to have all 3 regardless, however. Oh well, regular EE for me

where did you read that? From what I read in the link it sounds like a 20 minute dvd on the creation of the Gollum statue and other LOTR collectables. If it does have some CGI stuff on it I'd be more inclined to spend the extra money.

Now I'm torn. I love bonus DVDs. I hate the sculpture.

What do I do about a bonus DVD *about* the sculpture? Damn. I think I'm skipping the big box (and I'll just get the 'standard' EE).

I'm getting the set for a couple reasons:

1. I like the Sideshow WETA sculptures and am trying to collect them.
2. I'd love to get an extra dvd about Gollum
3. I'm a completist, and this seems to be the definitive edition of The Two Towers. Can't wait to see what's in store for the ROTK EE.

I bought the FOTR box set because the Argonath bookends rocked. But this statue doesn't appeal to me as much. I'll probably just get the regular EE.

So, no pack of three pieces of pasteboard I can sell on ebay for $30? cancelling my preorder!

Ole smeagol's just a little too ugly for tastes. I'll be a cheapskate and get the regular EE this time (and hope for a Minas Tirth display piece for ROTK).
