The Jerry Springer Thread
So who else is hooked on this show? I Can't seem to tear my eyes from it. I mean, I can't believe some of the stuff they come up with.
Anyway, question? Is it faked? Are the "guests" faking it? Are people "encouraged" by the show to fight and show breasts?
Just curious to see who else will admit to watching the show.

I don't get a chance to watch it much (I see a few episodes a year), but I always find it fascinating. Jerry's show was the best out of those Sally-Rikki-whoever else "trash" talk shows.
As for whether or not it's fake depends on where you draw the line on how much producers are allowed to set things up (like in all the Bowling For Columbine controversies). I believe that these people on the show are real, as are their situations. But also believe that they are acting in a way that they feel is expected of them. They know it's time to preform so up come the shirts and through the air goes the chairs.
One of the goofiest things I'd ever seen was one episode where this midget was ****ing the guys girlfriend. The boyfriend comes out and the midget charges across the stage at him. The midget jumps at the guys chest, the guy grabs the midget and tosses him almost all the way across the room. They even cut to a replay from a camera looking down from the ceiling.

I'm not sure they are paid off though. Some of them definitely look fake, but some seem to be real.

The violence has become almost predictable. I mean, they announce the next guest and boom they're jumping each other. Steve and the crew do get in the middle though.
What do you mean 'old days'? How was it back then?

Am I the only one who finds it hard to believe it has been on for twelve seasons? I mean, I know it has. I remember some of the very first episodes, after Springer's political career was killed. It went from a indie / somewhat serious show, to a downright trash- talking / mindless fun show and now's it just worn out and dull. There is even shows dedicated to Steve goin' around and helping people. They've really killed the show, in my opinion. Sure, Jerry's comments are witty as usual, but the guests are not nearly as interesting, the stories aren't inventive and the fights are so tamed down at this point, that it can no longer even qualify as mindless entertainment , which was what the show really had goin' for it. The one thing that seperated Springer from the rest of those Daytime talk shows.
P.S - Jenny Jone's was hot.

Someone once told me that she was scouted for the old Donahue show. Two people from the show talked to her for a while, and at the end they apologized and told her that she wasn't weird enough.
I think that most of the guests on Springer will do whatever it takes to get on TV. I've only watched the show a few times, and one guy I saw was definitely getting his rocks off by being humiliated on national television.

LivingINClip, Jenny is NOT hot. Never was. She's a total bitch. Our show and hers are made on the same floor of the same building and I've had some run-ins with her. Total bitch.
