While R1 Lion King will be THX certified and have DEHT (Disney Enhanced Home Theater) DD 5.1, R3 Counterparts (Korean, HK and Taiwanese version), will have at least English DEHT DTS 5.1 and regular English DD 5.1.
As for the platinum editions, the HK version will have almost identical content with the Korean version.
The Korean gift set will also have the same packaging with R1 and the THX certification.

I live in Seoul, Korea. I bought the gift set. Box, Ilustration book, picture cards are directly imported, just rounding paper sleeve out of case in korean. Main feature DVD has Korean DD5.1 sound track with English DTS 5.1, DD 5.1 soundtrack THX certified.
I didn't know that Region 1 dvd release without DTS track before read this thread. I check the information about this but there is only English DD 5.1 in R1 DVD. Don't even have Spanish or french track? I didn't compare all supplement material but I don't know why disney do this.
