What ever happened to...

The intention of this thread is to have one place where people can post their questions about previously announced DVDs. I have a few I've been waiting patiently for that were at least in the rumor mill at one point or another, if not actually announced.

Crime Story Season One and Moonlighting Season One. Artisan (if I recall right) released the pilot episodes to DVD and there was serious talk about releasing the rest of both series to DVD. Yet we've been waiting for these longer than Twin Peaks season two. What happened? Of course, all three of these were SUPPOSED to come from Artisan a long time ago, weren't they? Did Artisan just have total change of mind about TV shows on DVD?

Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan was in the rumor mill earlier this year but I have heard no updates on the project since then. Anybody know anything?

I remember Bruce Campbell at one point saying it was about a year away... and that was about 2 years ago.

Whatever happened to Steven Spielberg's "Duel?" Universal was supposed to release it a couple weeks ago, and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

(ducking thrown tomatoes)

MGM said in a chat with HTF in 2001 that both "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia" and "The Hunger" were scheduled for 2002. Still waiting.

I'm still waiting for Sliders Season 1 which was announced along with Quantum Leap for sometime this year. Haven't heard a peep since.

As for Duel, , Universal pulled the release for the 2nd time because of Spielberg's approval of the transfer (according to DVD File). But apparently, some e-tailers didn't get the message and shipped some of them.

Buy it off of eBay. It's at 40-50 bucks last time I checked. I doubt it's coming back anytime soon so if you want it, you can do it eeeeeeebay!

MGM no longer has the rights to THE HUNGER. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. does. At the last HTF chat, Warner reps claimed it was scheduled for 2004.

Not sure about ALFREDO GARCIA.

Quantum Leap - It keeps being announced and also being put on hold.

The other's that I want I can either get off Ebay or another region. Take for example, 'The History of Beavis and Butthead', I'll get off Ebay and I'll pick up 'Ed Wood' on R2.

re: Moonlighting on DVD

"Buena Vista now owns the rights to Moonlighting. Check it out here:"

Buena Vista has always owned the rights to Moonlighting on DVD, they originally farmed the rights out to Anchor Bay for DVD along with many of their other titles. Since they are now farming movies/tv product out to MGM you may want to check with them.

Schindler's List? It seems every year now I hear "next year". I've been hearing this since 2000, and now I'll believe it when I see it.

At least we know this one is being worked on. Spielberg, earlier in the year, talked about all the deleted scenes he had for the DVD. Wasn't there a November target date tossed about though?

Somebody mentioned Sliders....Wasn't Invisible Man rumored at one point to come out on DVD as well (the Sci Fi Channel series)?

FOX the time has come to make with MILLENNIUM season 1 at least. You have been teasing us with hints that it is coming for over a year.

Speaking TV shows, I'd love to know what's the hold up with TWIN PEAKS: Season 2. I'm guessing it has to do with Artisan losing the Republic rights to Paramount? And it's a shame that Warners (again) hasn't released the original pilot on DVD yet. At least I've got my All Region edition from Hong Kong to hold me over, despite the annoying PAL speed-up.

A friend at Universal says that SCHINDLER'S LIST is indeed in the works but won't be out until Fall '04. It's currently only a 2-disc set, unfortunately.

I also wish that Warners (ugh!) would release QUICK CHANGE and FANDANGO sometime soon.
