Evil Dead trilogy any time soon ?

Hi ,

I'd like to buy those films but could only find the set
as R2 ancor bay release which is said to be of inferior quality .

Will there be a R1 set set ( I know they keep getting "new" versions out all the time ) ?

Oh , and where do you buy R3 discs online ( for the MGM army of darkness dvd ) ?

Thanks Gilo

Hey, that's a great idea. Yet another Evil Dead release. Actually, Anchor Bay would probably go for it. It would inspire people to pick up the whole set at once and help them get into the Guiness Book of World records for largest number of releases of the same films on DVD.

Just out of interest with the exception of AoD in what way are the R2's inferior?....i pretty much thought they were almost identical to the R1's and that the R2 has a 'bonus' disc whose contents may very well not make it to a R1 release (The 'Incredibly Strange Picture Show' segment from UK Channel 4 TV for instance)

AB says that US rights issues will make such a boxset in the US impossible.

I've read in some Evil Dead site faq that the Ancor Bay prints where made from vhs versus the original films in other releases and that they are matted / cropped / even zoomed in some scenes ..

I'm not that picky but they are talking about major difference between the versions , so I'm hesitating about buying the AB R2 collection which seems to be the most economic and simple thing to buy .

The Anchor Bay R2 director's cut disc is sourced in part from Bruce Campbell's personal tape, as they were not able to acquire film elements for the additonal scenes. However, Anchor Bay's R1 disc is the exact same thing. The R2 disc isn't inferior to the R1 disc. The only disc that is of better quality for the director's cut is the R3 MGM disc, which is sourced entirely from film.
