Which MST3k Collection to get?

Ideally all three of them, but money constraints right now are preventing me to. Of the three Collections, though, which is the best? I saw all three at Best Buy and they were $50, which I think is outrageous considering there are only 4 movies on each one but I am a huge fan, and was excited to know that they were available on DVD. I will end up buying it cheaper off the net, but am wondering which one to get.

Thanks

They're all great, but If I had to pick one - I'd say Volume 2. "Pod People" and "Cave Dwellers" are classics (in my opinion) and "Angels Revenge" is pretty funny too. Also, the set includes "Shorts Vol. 1", which is excellent (The "Cheating" short is one of my all time favorites).

If you're going to eventually own all three, then why not just start with the first and work up? Besides, if by some chance they start going OOP, then I would imagine the first collection would be harder to get.

I also am crazy about MST3K. Thanks to my nephews, I only recently got exposed to it. I own all three box sets (haven't watched them yet) and all the individual episodes on DVD. "Eegah" is a hoot ("Watch out for snakes!!!").

Also, I now watch the repeats of the show every Saturday morning at 9 AM EST on the Sci-Fi Channel. Apparently there's only a few dozen titles they can rotate (rights issues), and I'm determined to catch them all.

It's a shame that more of these hysterical episodes can't be released on disc. Although if you go to the official MST3K website (link it through Sci-Fi Channel website), there is supposed to be an upcoming announcement about more episodes being released on DVD in the fourth quarter of the year. I hope so.

Enjoy.

I like #2 the best but thats me.
www.dapcentral.org for "information" on older, unreleased episodes
So many good episodes are unreleased, I hope BB or Rhino can release some of them.

Start with #1 and work your way up. You'll be glad you did. I know I am.

Try ordering from Canada to lower your total overall cost.

Just buy em 1 at a time, as mentioned above, however I say start with #2.

Cave Dwellers is up there with "worst movie ever", and Pod People is just hilarious ("IT STINKS!").

SkyDivers and The Creeping Terror are good on #1 too. :-/

Buy them all!

Get them from DDD. They have the first and second sets for 39.87, and the third for 35.88 (free shipping of course). I really can't say which is the best since they're all awesome. I would just start with the first and work your way up. I have them all, and I'm glad I do. They're all worth owning.

bn.com has the first and second sets for $35.98 with free shipping on each.
And if you talk yourself into buying both, use coupon code BNSAVE2 to get $5 off total. (coupon expires Aug. 31, according to dvdpricesearch)

If money is tight you could start with the individual releases
I would recommend Manos because it has a nice extra poopie reel
+ its damn funny.
Individual titles are as follows

Beginning of the end
Brain that wouldn't die
crawling hand
eagah
hellcats
I accuse my parents
Manos
Mitchell
Red Zone Cuba
Wild World of Batwoman

some of these are 11.97 at DDD others are 13.97

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I went ahead and ordered Box Set #2 for only $34.95 at Digital Eyes. It should be here middle of next week. Next I'll probably get Box #1, then #3.

That is definitely the right order. Box #3 has Sidehackers which is really funny, the other episodes are just okay so far. Sometimes as I watch an episode over and over, it gets funnier, which is one of the reasons I love this show.

I like the first one the best, especially since it has both the edited MST3K'd versions as well as the uncut original movies.
