Roger and Me widescreen?

I was all set to purchase this but noticed that the dvd is not in widescreen. Why did they do this? I looked on imdb.com to be sure and it was shot in 1.66:1 Am I wrong?

I have no clue why the studio would release this fullscreen only, but apparently there is no widescreen version... (waiting for a petition)

I thought maybe it was open mat but sadly I could tell right away that it had been cropped.

Actually, it was cropped to 1.66:1 for theatrical release, having been shot on 16mm.
