Is The Gate a fullscreen DVD?
I was surprised to discover the 1987 cult favorite The Gate had found it's way onto DVD. I didn't know this film was even out yet, but there it was sitting on the shelf at Best Buy. It's a low-budget Platinum DVD that was in with the "bargain bin" stuff. I was thinking of picking it up since I like the film, but wasn't sure whether it was a widescreen or fullscreen release. Nothing on the package indicates what aspect ratio it's in. Can someone who has this DVD please confirm for me?

I found a couple at BB in Bel Air, MD for $5.99 each. Picked up one of them, so there should be one left. I was tempted to try and get the R2 widescreen, but I don't love the movie THAT much.

The US dvd leaves a lot to be desired...even for a low budget 80's flick...the UK disc says it is widescreen, but is not...and the transfer is worse than the US...real bleedy reds and big, blocky blacks. There is a Dutch dvd that is anamorphic widescreen with much better colors and black levels...still not a great pitcure, but the best of the three!
