Artisan Home Entertainment also extends its thanks to Schwarzenegger for his political aspiration.
The studio, which earlier this summer released a Terminator 2 "Extreme Edition" that included a high-definition version of the 1991 film now plans a similar release and promotion for Total Recall.
"With a title like Total Recall, how could we not?" says Artisan's Jeff Fink.

I'll be the first one in line to buy it if it has a new transfer. I'm sure it will be since every Artisan re-release lately has had a new one. The current transfer is pretty good, but a little dull looking.

It really boils down to people being angry with themselves... and their inability to be content with what they have. It's all about ego... "hey, I thought I was buying the best version there would ever be... now there's one even better and JoeSixPack might get it! I can't let him have a version better than me!" LOL

One of the best thread titles ever! Thanks for the laugh. It helps me cope with the disfigured hands I now have, which are a tragic result of trying to open the T2 extreme edition dvd. Artisan -- the dvd choice of masochists everywhere! More extreme editions PLEASE!

It has nothing to do with being "content with what they have". It's about studios not putting out the BEST product that they could the first time around. Or not taking a page from New Line and informing the customer "Hey, we're putting this DVD out first, but down the line there'll be an extended super-duper ultra mega collector's version".
THEN if someone comes on here and complains, i'd have no sympathy.

If or when Total Recall comes out with a better transfer, I will simply throw the current version on Ebay and then get the new one through Columbia House for about $7-8.00. What's the big deal? In fact, I will probably make money on the deal as people pay plenty of money for DVDs on Ebay.

This would have been impossible in 1997-98 for T2 because DVD authoring and compressioning have come a LONG way. I think since 2001 in particular there has been a definite change in DVDS. I'll also agree that the DVD market has VASTLY improved since the late 90s, but there are still studios putting out pan & scan, non-anamorphic DVDs **coughMGMcough**.
Why bother? Get it right the first time..

How about everyone wait until we learn more about what's actually ON the DVD until you pass judgement? I own the tin, but quite frankly if this version blows it away in terms of features and quality, i'll upgrade. Especially for a great movie like Total Recall. Plus Artisan dvd's are ususally fairly cheap.
