Friday 13th re-release question

Hi guys,

I know this is up for a re-release this month. Does anyone know anything about the quality of this and any included extras, or should I wait for the R2 SE instead, which is released at the end of September?

Thanks

I'm assuming you are referring to a non-R1 version, right?

Ok, I think it's the standard R1 release. In that case, maybe someone can tell me what the quality is like and if it is uncut ?

Thanks

They can all be had for $9 and change at DDD....

I had I and II at one time and sold them......I may pick up the Final Chapter along with VI and VII. Thinking about picking up Nightmare On Elm Street I, II and III again also.

It's not, it's just a price drop.

Any reviews of the UK "uncut" 'Friday the 13th' that HKFLIX.Com is selling? I wouldn't mind picking it up if the picture and sound quality is good.

Did some research. I'd wait for the new SE R2 release on the 29th Sept if you're going to import it, as it will be uncut, contain director commentary, and include documentaries on the 'making off'.

Did you guys see this the other day at DVDfile?

You've survived 11 movies (and counting)... but do you think you have what it takes to take on Jason yourself? As the ol' hockey-masked fiend gets ready to do battle with Freddy tomorrow, Cinescape has just announced a super-scary Friday the 13th amateur filmmaker contest. You've got 13 minutes or less to try your hand at "paying tribute to, poking fun at, or having your way with" Jason and the mythology established in the first eight Friday flicks. Deadline for submissions is September 8th, and then on Friday the 19th, the winner will be screened at Maniafest -and better yet for DVD fans, there will be a special midnight screening of the original Friday the 13th at midnight complete with a panel discussion beforehand (with very special guests), plus the revealing of official news about the upcoming DVD box set. Check out the Cinescape website (http://www.cinescape.com/0/News_2.asp) for the full scoop.

It'll probably just be the regular issues of 1-8 in a box, but I myself am holding out. (I had 2,3,4,5,7, and 8 in my hand on Friday ready to buy before my co-worker told me about this).

Are there no aspiring F13 filmmakers out there who want to shoot something for the Cinescape fest? You've only got 3 weeks!

Did you have the box set before? Even though a lot of the later films......well, suck, the Nightmare Encylcopedia disc makes the box set well worth it. Also, I think New Nightmare is worth owning, lol.

'New Nightmare' is the second highlight of the series (right behind the original 'Nightmare on Elm Street') . It was Wes Craven comin' back to the series he started and reclaiming it after so many screen-writers and directors had destroyed it. I remember reading about before he wrote 'New Nightmare', Wes went back and watched all of the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' films and when they was over he said something to the extent "he couldn't understand the story". It was goin' in all different directions, they had taken his simple concept and complicated it for no reason. They took his dark, sadastic character and made him the Robin Williams of horror..

I guess you could say, I view 'New Nightmare' as the only true sequel. Wes came back, took the series back to its dark roots and at the same time, included a lot of cool bits and pieces for fans of the series.

(Note: The clothes that John Saxon and Heather wear at the end of the movie are the exact same clothes they wore in 'Nightmare on Elm Street' )

Friday The 13th (Region 4)

Sorry, don't know if it's the uncut version but some scenes still did not show what happened to certain characters but Annie's death showed blood comming out of her throat after it was slit. Jack's death was their with a top view. Marcie's death was their but you saw the axe swing hit a light then you saw her slid down the door with axe. Mrs. Voorhees' death was long and showed her hands in the air and blood was squirting out of her neck.

Sound registered as DD5.1 but only notice audio from center what was very crisp and clean.

Picture had minor flaws and discolorations in some spots, but was very satisfied with image for time frame and budget.

The commentary was o.k. And was edited together but talked a lot about the special effects and ending but did not go with the movie playing but a lot of the key commentary was also mention in the feature.

The "Return to Crystal Lake: Making Friday the 13th" feature (20 mins) was very neat and informative but at the end it had a copyright for Warner Bros to my memory (will check this out again) and the sound was in stereo.

Theatrical Trailer was also in stereo

Highly recommended disc for Friday The 13th for now, I will be closely watching the region 1 news in September for a possibility of the ultimate discs! And hopefully Part 3 in 3D and alternate ending ...BMatt
