dvd buying habits

does anyone else do this:

1. when they see a movie in the theater, instead of rating it A,B,C, etc or on a scale from one to ten, you end up rating it:

(a) must buy on dvd asap!
(b) a might buy on dvd...
(c) defintely wont buy

and

2. ever anticipate movies on dvd BEFORE they are even released in the theaters? i just did this with underworld - im already to the point where i cant wait to buy this on dvd and watch it at home and its not even out yet! after realizing it i thought to myself "man i got a problem! i am a dvd addict!"

i figured only people here would understand me.

Yup. I can't wait for movies to get out on DVD so I can watch it in the comfort of my home.

I do this to only a very limited extent. If I'm watching a movie in a theater and am really enjoying it, I make a note in the back of my head somewhere that I'll have to buy it on DVD when it comes out. (Last one to qualify for this was "Pirates of the Carribean," if I remember correctly.) Other than that I just sit and enjoy the movie (or don't enjoy it, as the case may be) and don't worry about a DVD that won't be out for months and months anyhow. I'm just weird that way.

I do the same, 'cept I don't rent and often what I say I won't buy, I end up buying ...Example: 'House of 1,000 Corpses', I said there would be no way I'd buy it...but I did.

This is me, sorta. I don't rent either. After seeing House of 1,000 Corpses I didn't think I'd want to own it. BUT... after seeing Rob Zombie in person (I was rather impressed), and hearing what was on the disc, I've had second thoughts. I haven't bought it yet but I think I'll get it since it's been a slow DVD-buying week.

I don't go to the theater or rent. All of my DVD purchases are pretty much blind buys.
The exceptions are when I catch it on PPV and decide I want it, or an old title that's finally being released. For new movie releases that I've never seen, I rely on other viewer opinions and reviews.

All blind buys? How's that working out for you?

I used to do that but I ended up with a pretty bad ratio of hits to misses even when the movie sounded interesting.

As for the topic at hand yep I do that now, First thing I think of after I'm done and the lights go on is dvd or not? heh.

That's a good system. I'd agree with that.
