My Requiem DVD is sick!

What the hell is this?? DVD rot?? DVD Delamination??

I have looked extensivley on the net and could find no other examples of this. It is the R1 version of Requiem for a Dream and plays about 95% of the movie and then just freezes up. Funnily enough this is probably the only DVD i have lent out to a friend and he had it for a month or so...coincidence...I think not.

Also do you think Artisan would send me a replacement?

A DVD is essentially 2 layers (pieces) which can and often (more so with cheap DVD-Rs) separate. It looks like yours is coming apar.

Since data is written from the inside out, that could explain your freeze towards the end.

Thats what I was thinking. I heard that Delamination (seperation of layers) is more common in warmer temperatures.

So far, I've been able to salvage every DVD I've had problems with using water and a cleaning cloth (typically, this is used with rentals).

This isnt a surface stain though, it is beneath the surface of the DVD.
