dvdempire, that online retailer is a pain in the arse !

Well, I've some problems with this online store, after searching and reading many reviews about the commercial websites based in the US, most of the people advised me to place my order with dvdempire

I decide to do business with them since I have had enough of Amazon.com and dvdboxoffice.com, the first one is because of their selling prices are so high, and dvdboxoffice is really slow, around one month for dispatching just a disc.

After one week since I placed my orders, dvdempire sent me an email, they need a fax of my credit card, and my passport.

But I'm in Europe, and it's quite expensive to fax those red tape to the US, I would do better to purchase with amazone, the price is higher but they don't bug me, and I've just calculated, if I fax those papers to the US, the price will be higher than amazon..

Can any one here give me an advise to avoid this embarrassing problem with them?

Thanks in advance

this is a regular practice many vendors ask for.....including French companies that ship to the US.

What you need to do is scan your pasport and credit card info and attach it in an email (that you send to them)!!!

Easy!

I’ve never heard of any etailer ask to see your passport! I’ve never used them again after they screwed me over on the Universal Monsters set a few years back. I’d strongly advise against using DVDEmpire & if you do God help you if anything goes missing that’s not insured up to the eyeballs becuase they won’t care.

Don't bother faxing ANYTHING.

I may (did) have done it 3-4 years ago for cheaper DVDs but there's far cheaper (and better) retailers now.

Your card has a security number on the signature strip and usually the only way to know this is to have the card in your possession.

Shop elsewhere.

thank you for your help, finally they have just canceled my order

jonathan.e, it's not a joke at all, you can glance at the email in the note below .

I can't send to them my a copy of passport or a scan of my cc by attaching them in the email, because if some one succeded in intercepting my credit card number, it will give me a lot of of troubles.

At the same day, I placed my order at deepdiscountdvd and they don't bug me about my credit card scan or my passport, and they have just shipped my discs yesterday.

Well, I think VISA had some huge troubles with the fraud, that's why they try to pisse their customer off, well it's not my job to resolve their trouble, if they go on with their crap commercial policy, I'll will take out a subscription to a Master Card.
