If someone does have this, can you confirm the Technical Specs??? IMDB doesn't list the OAR, the Laserdisc was 1.66:1, and some websites I've checked are saying the DVD is fullframed.
Would be nice to know if this is openmatted or pan scanned. OR if the Laser Disc was butchered.
I guess i'm asking, "anyone know the OAR on this one"?

I couldn't find this one or (guilty pleasure warning...) Sgt. Peppers LHCB ('78). Amazon has a "two for" deal on these, but I'm gonna look for any other good online prices for both.

I ordered Backbeat with STL thru Amazon. It has just arrived! AWESOME ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN!!! Features: commentary with director Iain Softley, deleted scenes, interview with director Iain Softley, stills gallery, interview with actor Ian Hart, director's essay, casting sessions, TV featurette!!! I am so excited! This is my fave film and I'm so glad they did it right!!!!

Received mine on Monday from DVD Empire. Haven't watched it yet, but it's listed on case as 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen and it has more special features than I was led to believe (commentary, cast interviews, casting sessions, deleted scenes, stills, featurette, director's essay).
I also got the embarrassing but fun "Sgt. Pepper" flick and have watched it. Pretty good transfer and sound, though not exactly stunning. Also anamorphic widescreen, but only a trailer as a special feature.

I went to 5 places before I found it at Virgin Megastore, it wasn't even on the shelf, when I asked for it the idiot looked at me like "duh Backbeat never heard of it, are you sure that's a movie". The manager happened to be there and told me he had it in the back. HMV never placed any orders for it, nobody there ever heard of it.
Anyway it's only 2.0, 1.85 aspect, the picture looked pretty good, there are deleted scenes, I think there are 2 commentaries with director Ian Softley, also with Ian Hart, there are more extras can't remember what else I'll check when I get home tonight.

tdilia How much was it at Virgin?
I can't believe it has all those extras!! I thought it was going to be barebond. That's awesome.
"There goes Stuart Sutcliffe. He coulda been in the Beatles" in my best scouse accent.

I found it at Virgin Megastore, along with Hard To Hold and Sgt. Pepper. But since they charge list price, I didn't buy them there.
Instead, I went to Fry's Electronics and found all three, saving $15 over Virgin.
BestBuy.com has all three, but they won't be available in Best Buy stores.

I saw it at FYE today. Looks real nice. Too bad they charge MSRP for most releases that aren't on sale, and alas, this one wasn't. I guess I'll be ordering through DeepDiscountDVD once I get paid next week.
