'Freaky Friday' will blow 'S.W.A.T.' out of the water this weekend
This is just a feeling I have. Watching the ads and early (quite good!) reviews for "Freaky," I smell a surprise hit based on the always-unpredictable teenage girl audience (see: "Titanic"). "S.W.A.T." to me so far has nothing that makes me want to see it - Colin Farrell and Samuel Jackson appear to be in every fifth movie these days - the trailer is forgettable and I think to many moviegoers it's coming at the tale end of the "action overload" this summer (look at "Tomb Raider 2"). I could be wrong, but I'm betting "Friday" cleans up this weekend and does solid business overall.

I have faith that Freaky Friday will do well - but this is the THIRD time Disney has made this movie? Can't they move on to "Summer Switch" where the father and Ape Face switch?
S.W.A.T. just looks dumb to me. Does it have ANYTHING to do with the old television show? Then again, did Mission: Impossible?....

S.W.A.T's a big time summer movie for the summer movie crowd. I think it's gonna bring in big bucks. Probably around $40-$50 million.
Freaky Friday is for the younger crowd. It'll make around $10-15 million I think.

I just hope that both of them end up on the same talk show:
Jamie Lee Curtis: "I'm so excited! The role was the most fun I've had since A Fish Called Wanda."
Colin Ferrell: "That's fookin' great. Fookin' whiskey. Fook."
JLC: "Did you know my mom was in Psycho?"
CF: "Me da never did get them fookin' lucky charms."
JLC: "Come see my movie."
CF: "Nay! Me mates and me are gonna get fookin' pissed tonight, lassy!"

Seriously though.. I'm amused from the trailer how well the two seem to act as their counterparts.. if the movie ends up sucking I at least have some eye candy to entertain.

Sure but then you have LL Cool J in it which can totally ruin a movie no matter how big the other actors are.
While I was never real interested in this movie, I liked the TV show as a kid and was planning to see it. The fact that they cast a rapper means no sale. It's funny how you hear so much well-deserved backlash about Mariah and Britney but nothing against the rappers who are cast even though they don't even try to act.

There have been a lot of action movie this summer, but very few did more than go through the motions of blowing stuff up every 15 minutes or so.
If this movie manages to get outside the lazy action trap (and the few reviews I've seen indicate that it does) it can make a tidy sum.
I wouldn't discount Freaky Friday as taking a nice chunk of change this weekend too.

Casting LL Cool J is much different than casting someone like DMX or Ja Rule who have NO acting talent. LL Cool J can actually act, and has been pretty good in many movie role. It's pretty idiotic to dismiss an entire move because a rapper was cast. Did you see Bad Boys or even Three Kings. Both were pretty good movies, although rappers were somhow part of the cast.
From what I've seen of SWAT so far, it looks pretty good. The action scenes look like things that actually could happen, unlike that other rapper infested movie this summer.
