Would Halloween 2 be worthy of a SE treatment?
In the light of the new transfer of the original Halloween coming out on Tuesday.
Does anyone think Halloween 2 is worthy of a special edition treatment. I just watched it recently, and i think it's pretty underrated. Any thoughts.

It was going to get one not too long ago, but the director was shooting Halloween Resurrection and didn't have time to participate, so it was just released with a new 16x9 transfer. Who knows what their plans are now.

Thats the first movie I ever seen twice at the theatre. There is a tv version of the movie-haven't seen it in many years.I think it deserves SE treatment but with the way Universal has been handling older titles of late-don't count on it.

the universal is anamorphic, the goodtimes is not HOWEVER, there are little differences between the two and the goodtimes is like 10 bucks retail while the universal is 24.99 retail

I thought the first Halloween was better in terms of overall script. However the second scared the crap out of me a bit more. Michael just seemed more menacing! I think it would be a great SE. Love to see a documentary regarding the filming.
You have to admit one thing that was so completely unrealistic with this movie. A hospital with maybe 4-5 people running the show. This is definetely not an episode of ER.

She played the nurse who didn't know how to use the walkie-talkie.Not one of her better acting roles but maybe one of her first.

Secondly...Haddonfield is a small town whereas Chicago [where County is] is much bigger.
And Mr. Hot Tub's name is Leo Rossi.

I'd like to see an SE of it, but I'll settle for the Universal one. I plan on getting that along with H20 when Halloween III is re-released (Yeah, I know that shouldn't even be considered a Halloween movie, but I'm a completist).
I'll get Parts 4 and 5 when my local store gets Resurrection back in stock.

Yes, it most definitely deserves a special edition.
Alright, help me to understand this, was the Rick Rosenthal commentary track actually ever recorded...and if so, why did it not see the light of day? And did the filming of H8 interfere in any way?
From HorrorDVDs.com:
In September 1998 a company by the name of Goodtimes released Halloween II onto DVD for the first time. Although it was a bare bones DVD, fans were content just getting a widescreen release of Halloween II for the first time. Flash forward nearly 3 years later, Universal plans on releasing a special edition DVD of Halloween II that will contain a commentary track by director Rick Rosenthal. Ultimately the special edition was canned and Universal ended up announcing the DVD as a bare bones release. Fan reaction was was poor, of course, and soon an on-line petition sprang up to try and get Universal to do the special edition.

After Goodtimes Halloween II distribution rights ran out Universal was soon to clame them back and Release Halloween II on there lable.Which they did on the 8th of September 2001 with all new front cover art work and with new features. Many Halloween fans wanted Universal to release the missing cut scenes and a commentary with Halloween II director, Rick Rosenthal but all these were never put on to the DVD.What the DVD includes are: A new Restored Version of Halloween II (Widescreen), The Theatrical Trailer, Production notes and Information on the cast and crew.

I think Halloween 2 deserves an S.E., would definately pick it up. IMO, Rosenthal did a good job of following Carpenter's lead. I liked the idea that it took place on the same night, rather than 2 or 3 years later.
