Pitch Black
Predator 1 + 2

FYI, these are more sci-fi/horror than suspense horror.

session 9
the ring
the changling
exorcist 3
don't look now (scared the hell out of me as a kid, bored the hell out of me recently)

those are what i consider scary horror. ie, no jumping cats. and of course watch at night and alone.

final destination 2, since i just recently watched it, the kills were surpisingly "shocking" and grusome without being explicitly gory. the plot and the story and acting all sucked but the tension of just knowing nearly every character is gonna die builds up well when death catches up to them.

Pick up Frailty SE. I've recently just watched it, and man what a great one. I've just placed an order for it.

Dellamorte Dellamore (known as Cemetery Man in the U.S.)

It's an Italian flick, and you have to own a Region-Free DVD player to see it, but it's great.

Definitely The Shining if you haven't seen it. A lot of people who haven't seen it are disappointed because it's not "that scary", which I agree with, but that doesn't keep it from being my favorite movie. Definitely a classic.

Er, what was the point of resurrecting this 4 year old thread?

What's the point of posting in it to complain about the ressurection of it, when it just bumps it back to the top?

And look, me responding to you has bumped it up again.

I was looking for some info on the old Critical Mass Black Christmas S.E., and found this. Just thought it could use a few updates.

THE DESCENT, undoubtedly one of the scariest films to come out over the last several years.
